Its already happening. Cleveland State and PU-Fort Wayne announced they are ending softball after this year. Horizon will be down to 7 and I think there may be another one on the way.

I expect many northeast/midwest mid-major schools to abandon it. Schools will focus on realistic areas they can be successful. Softball/Baseball are just gonna be too hard in the north.

It will be interesting to see how it impacts the Big Ten…and how those dominoes affect UCLA. UCLA does not fit in that conference under any metric I can think of. Oh, except the desire for $.

Big Ten will be fine...I don't expect any softball programs to get dropped.

USC/UCLA didn't have a choice. The House settlement was coming and the media contracts in the old P12 were insufficient given the size of both of their athletic departments.

In a bubble UCLA softball is not happy. They went from a mansion to a nice middle class neighborhood. But in total UCLA is happy. The Big Ten saved UCLA.

I think another thing people are failing to realize is if Tennessee does or doesn’t have the program she wanted to pursue after graduating. I’m not sure what she graduated with and this is just pure speculation, but she might’ve not wanted to pursue another degree at Tennessee or Tennessee might not have had the degree she wanted to pursue and wanted to continue to play softball and make some money too.

The 2020 team was something else
Yeah, that 2020 team probably wasn’t going to make the tournament. Rogers was injured and not playing and we were relying on a freshman Callie Turner. And I remember the defense being horrible. We didn’t miss a whole lot with Covid cutting that season short. Although the baseball team that year could’ve been very special.

When I first heard about Taylor my feelings were hurt. But as others have stated she was here 3 years and graduated. The girls have no big pro salaries awaiting them so if she can get $350k for couple of years, that’s a nice way to start your life. I wish her nothing but the best. I would like to know what our offer was though. But I do not like it if things were worked out a few months ago. That is what has to stop.

Gabby, Emma, and Aliyah will have to provide some power as well as some portal/freshmen folks. I’m very ok with Ella/ Bella up the middle. I think/hope Bella has a big year. Our pitching should even be better next year. LVs will be fine.

You have to be joking if you think those 4 can make up for the offensive home run and RBI numbers of Pannell. We have lost all of our top home run hitters to graduation or the portal who accounted for the majority of the run production until the end of the season. This is a huge loss regardless of how you put it. Tennessee struggled to play small ball for a lot of the season and without the home run they will have to get creative in the portal.
No but your post is

Flip side is, as the dad of a JUCO grad, the JUCO players who've had good years are getting a lot of love from good mid-major programs. And they come cheaper. All she was looking for was education, room, and a meal plan🤣.
