Tennessee Softball 2025

Texas' catcher is framing these pitches well to get their pitcher these strike calls. Ps: they really need to their act together with rules in softball. Ive noticed it a lot in the World Series.

Welp...that is a good case as to why you have to pitch to em to walk em and not just automatically put em on first.

Georgia has very little NIL money for women’s sports and they’re not giving revenue sharing money to softball, so I don’t expect them to be a big player in the first wave of the portal.

Pannell isn’t leaving Tennessee.
Didn’t say she was. Hence the *, gave a scenario of a landing spot based on a relationship. Not every move is NIL.

There's a huge group of girls that played together for years with Impact and Mojo teams (that era was the beginning of the end of some of the legit powerhouse travel program reputations in the south as they were pretty much selling the brand as a commodity and not an endorsement of talent).

f they wanted to "get the band back together" they would be quite the catch.
No doubt. Spoke with Fisher last year and told him I don’t know how he does it each year. That team that had those players that left and went to GA Impact and Lady Dukes was maybe the best I’ve seen…too many egos in the stands to hold it together.

Tennessee dropped the ball with Mojo when they originally formed and was never able to capitalize on Cherry, Fisher and Danleys teams before they franchised out. Weekly recruited Barnhart hard in MS before she committed to Aub. under Dean.

Have not seen any discussion on these 2 new additions but have not checked every thread. My apologies if already discussed:

Lady Vols have added All-Mountain West First Team members Makenzie Butt and Sophia Knight as they look to reload heading into 2026.

Teammates at Boise State in 2025, Butt and Knight hail from Garden Grove and Huntington Beach, California, respectively.

Knight, a rising junior, was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year in 2024 and garnered All-MW First Team honors in back-to-back seasons. She also collected Softball America Freshman All-America recognition in her rookie season.

A career .445 hitter, she has played and started in 115 games with 114 runs scored, 188 hits with 16 doubles, seven triples, a home run and 43 RBIs. Knight has a career on-base percentage of .482 with 45 stolen bases over her first two seasons.

"Sophia is a fast and dynamic offensive threat," head coach Karen Weekly said. "She will remind fans of the great speed players we've had over the years at Tennessee. More importantly, she is a really good person who shares our culture's mission and values. I'm excited to welcome her to the Lady Vol softball family."

Butt will have three years of eligibility left when she arrives on Rocky Top after a stellar freshman campaign with the Broncos. The 2025 Mountain West Freshman of the Year played and started in 55 games, slashing .363/.821/.495 with 11 doubles, 22 home runs and 77 RBIs.

The infielder picked up first-team All-Mountain West honors and was named a Softball America and D1Softball Freshman All-American.

"Makenzie is a fierce competitor with the ability to hit for power and average at this level," Weekly said. "She has always played in winning programs and understands the mindset and commitment necessary to compete for championships. Her energy and infectious personality are a great fit for our culture

If they can hit close to those numbers in the SEC were on to something next season. Butt is a first baseman so looks like a great replacement for Boo. The other player plays the outfield a little surprising since we have so many players that can play there coming back. Think we need a shortstop that can hit. Taking on a first basemen with three years to plays probably means not much confidence in Doyle.

Like after every season hoping we can find a way to bulk up the hitting. Karlyn lost way to many games because of poor offense this past season.

My only hesitation with thinking this is you never know what size check someone else might be willing to write. Keep in mind Pickens will not be making any significant money from softball once she is done in college. It's not basketball, baseball or football. Any pro leagues that form fall on their face, and the ones that play pay less than working at Home Depot. Just saying...
MLB is getting involved one of the leagues. I believe it's Athletes Unlimited.

This player is not in the portal at this moment. Still deciding from what I’ve been told
The only non-starter that would stink to lose is Audrey Lowry who was a freshman pitcher that got dinged up mid-season.

Any starter would of course stink.

Could see Deal leaving as she’s not lived up to the expectations. South Carolina would be my assumption, considering she was committed there under the previous staff before bolting to OU in the final hours. Milloy if she’s somehow unhappy with lack of time, I’d say goes back to Washington.
