Tennessee Softball 2025

I
My comment about choke (I should have said in 7th) was indeed an overreaction. It’s softball - it happens.

But pitching to their home run hitter was coaching malpractice in my opinion. I get the argument - good on good. But contextually, she had already taken KP for a homer.
I would have made someone else beat me also, but KP didn't choke. It's hard to put the winning run on base, but she had already gone deep in the 1st.

Didn’t we lose the championship series to Arizona? Monica was pitcher and we were up 1-0 best of three? That had to be about 15-18 yrs ago
That was one of the most gut wrenching losses in all of UT sports. Monica was her usual fantastic.
Goofy Ralph completely blew the game. If you saw it, you know what I mean.

Need to come out swinging - same as yesterday in that regard. Have got to be more productive with runners on base. I’d think you’d ride KP’s arm until you can’t anymore. I think Sage is great but let who got you here have the ball. Regardless of today’s outcome, the sun will still come out tomorrow.

Game is too big for Sage to start with the season on the line.
I don’t think so. She is a very good pitcher and our Ace needs some reStay. This will be the least demanding game we will have for the remainder of the NCAAs. When we are ahead in the 6-7th innings, we might bring her in to close it out, but I don’t think we will need her.

I do see your point. It would have taken a gutsy coach to call for that with the game KP was pitching.

Might have been a handful try it, but not me.

The odds still say pitch to her; perhaps with a mix of things around the knees.

If there had been an open base, then I would have walked her intentionally.

They only had two on base....First base was open...Thus the delima that has this board all tore up...This is a damn if you do, and damn if you don't scenario.

It's two outs and you got your ace throwing heat....Karen rode Karlyn for the win and unfortunately for us, she got bucked off.

That's the way of it sometimes....

There is no tomorrow if Tennessee overlooks Florida. “Least demanding” doesn’t mean they can’t beat us. Florida top to bottom is a solid team playing to extend their season too.

Cannot win it all with Pickens throwing every single pitch of the WCWS. Need a few innings eaton up by someone else. It’s the punishment of being in the loser’s bracket.

Now if the goal is to win a game and not the whole thing then just pitch Pickens until the wheels fall off every single inning the remainder of the tournament

This. Karlyn cannot pitch every single inning of every game. At some point you will have to go with someone else to give Karlyn some rest. Sage has proven herself. You have to show you trust her and let her get some work in.

Win tonight, rest tomorrow.
Lose tonight, summer rest starts tomorrow

KP can handle the load.
Anyone think Texas Tech has the same issue of who’s pitching in big games? No, Canady gets the ball.

Karlyn will have input. I don't why people are so concerned about her arm. Her arm is fine. The fans from other programs would not want to see her facing them. One pitch away from taking down the mighty Sooners on their (might as well be) home field last night so I know why their fans would want to convince people she could not pitch consecutive games.

I know Karlyn can go tonight. But I also know Sage needs the experience.

If you keep winning it’s games
Friday
Sunday
Monday and
Monday

Of course, every game is do or die, but who does Coach go with?

Unless our LV’s our pissed off about losing yesterday despite who’s to blame, they have no chance of winning. A leader in that dugout needs to step up and have a “come to Jesus meeting” or whatever you want to call it. This team needs to show some grit like they are capable of. Great hitting, base running, no errors, etc…can absolutely get us to Monday. Would it be a “miracle on ice”? Yes, but, I’m ready for this miracle.

I don't think it is all that much of a miracle. Oklahoma is not their normal good nor is Florida. I don't think Texas is all that great either. I just hope the players are mentally on point.
