Tennessee Softball 2025

The NCAA is about as worthless as ESPN. I am shocked that EVERY SB game I watch, not just the LV’s, they miss or just blatantly get calls wrong. My local high school umps/refs are terrible but I expect that. They are just doing a part time gig that pays no $.
Perks of instant replay. Make the call in the moment and go to review to get it right. HS umps get away with saying “judgment call” with no way of being overturned.

Coaching all around the diamond was not good today.
I question not sending Mealer home more than the last pitch. Early in the game, 2B has the ball roughly 105 feet away from the plate and Mealer is 53-55 feet from home. Changed the dynamic of the game early with more pressure to OU and momentum to TN tacking on more runs. The last pitch, you have Karlyn act like it and throw gas. If she hits one 260ft dead center to win it at least you threw your best pitch.

Yes, with two outs you send her.

With one out, it was a 50/50 thing.

Do wish Karen would delegate the third base coaching duties to a hired gun over there. Needs to trust and delegate.

Updated bracket. Winner tonight gets the loser of Tx tech and UCLA.

If we can somehow beat gators....(extremely difficult), we can pound tech.

Then two against an average sooner team. If you win first one, they will fold up like a cheap chair in the second.

Using that crazy logic, we need to win two nailbiters...first one is tonight.

Just have fun with it. The girls played well yesterday, outhit them, outplayed them. Clean up the baserunning and enjoy life.

Pound tech? They have the nation’s other premier ace. I’d think we have a better chance against Florida than TT.

I think Karlyn pitches again cause if we win we get the next day off so she could return against the next opponent. Would like to see us win at least one game in the tourney don't see that happening with anyone pitching but Karlyn.

Definitely send her she was rounding third as the infielder was catching the ball. With the bottom of the lineup coming up you need to play aggressive cause it was a better than 50 percent chance of success.

Exactly throw your best pitch and if the batter puts it in the stands just tip your cap(visor) then get ready for the next game...

Late in the game tied or down one..different approach. One out and all the momentum you’re putting your foot on the gas to score runs and knock Landry out early. Throw home advances Clarke up to 3B.

I believe they would have thrown out Mealer. Their defense is not average.

Nah, pound floriduh first.

then pound tech. They can't win with a goose egg on the scoreboard.

All we do with tech is chant SEC SEC SEC and they meekly crawl away

What do you mean? Was mowatt a wild pitcher?
No, she would release her screw ball well beyond where the pitching lane is now. Rule (Mowatt Rule) was put in place for the lines you see now of all pitchers having to release the ball inside lane of 3 ft 4 inches.

I have some knowledge - coached it at the high school level for 8 years . . . Which is not college. As I said earlier, I get the notion that it was good on good to pitch to their best hitter / sometimes you make a bad pitch. I think I would have taken my chances with someone else . . . Just an opinion.
Yes but, we had nothing to loose if we walked her. We had two outs and we had a force at any base. All the odds are in favor of walking the batter, regardless of who she is unless their slugger, who had already hit a homer in the game, would be the batter. We had nothing to lose and everything to gain with a walk.
