Not anytime soon. If a change is made it’s because Karen steps away because of Ralph’s health. She’s won back to back and consistently has the team at the WCWS. She’s overachieving compared to the NCAA field not named Patti Gasso.Wonder at what point Danny will see that a change is needed in softball .. the weekly’s have been here for ever and we haven’t won a natty even with some of the best pitching in the ncaa
oNE OF my favorite players last year was Mealer. This year she has not done much of anything with the bat and her defense has got worse each day. Our brand new hitting coach haS done her and boo no favors . Mealer cant hit a lick cause she cant see the ball.
I have been watching and coaching many many years and pitching coaches from Marc Weekly and nothing has changed you could say. I am dumbfounded that most pretty good hitters from the past start the next year from ground zero. Nothing pisses me off more than a hitter taking two good pitches and then swings at a junk piteh. Happens every other hitter it looks like. If i knew why this constantly happens i would just hush. JMHOAstute observations,Orange Beard. This team just finished three years with a hitting coach who preached technology at them. Now they have a hitting coach who has obviously muddled the thought process of some. The object is still the same—-“See the ball, hit the ball!” When I see hitters go to the plate consistently taking two or even three strikes without lifting the bat off their shoulder, I can only think tnhat they are coached that way. A batter has thee swings at least to hit,yet they handicap themselves by watching strikes and having to swing defensively.rather than being aggressive. That is coaching.
I agree with this except for the WCWS. We’ve been one time in the last decade. Not anytime soon. If a change is made it’s because Karen steps away because of Ralph’s health. It wasn’t a PR statement, it was the truth. You’ll notice she’s been out there literally every inning since, save for the first inning Ole Miss put the change up artist back in on Sunday.Rice brings good info and glad he does. But this was PR statement on that move. I’ve seen enough leading up over the weeks to see the game moves too fast for her at times.
My job is to broadcast the games. It’s definitely not to come here and “sell” anything.Agree I like Brian too but I don’t have to agree with what he is selling always (which is his job).
I don't blame you for taking offense but it would be a shame to lose the perspective of someone who actually knows what's going on and has the ability to articulate it.My job is to broadcast the games. It’s definitely not to come here and “sell” anything.
There is no “company line” for a message board, because, I hate to break it to anybody, but literally nobody in the athletic department cares what’s written on a message board. I have enjoyed reading here at times over the years, but the decidedly negative tone that threads have taken over the last few years, a time period that encompasses some of the most successful seasons in the programs history, have caused me to stay away. This brief jump back in has confirmed that was the right thing to do.
The question was asked and answered truthfully. The truthful answer was met with being called a liar. I’ll just move along and leave it there.
So you want him to fire a coach that won the SEC the last two seasons and had a chance to win it headed to the final weekend for a third straight year? Not to mention finished third in the country two years ago? Who do you want to hire?Wonder at what point Danny will see that a change is needed in softball .. the weekly’s have been here for ever and we haven’t won a natty even with some of the best pitching in the ncaa

I will say even though OU won the conference , this is a year they can be beaten. You have to do it but for a number of years it was everyone playing for second with no chance.
I think the bigger issue for the Sooners is that they moved into a much more talented conference where there are no real pushovers. They don't get to put up crooked numbers against vastly inferior opponents as often. You can say they are not as good but you need to compare apples to apples. Oklahoma lost 7 conference games. Oklahoma may beat us if we both advance but I believe A&M is the better team. So are Arkansas and Florida.Agreed. This is their weakest pitching staff in many years. They are going to give up runs to most good teams. Of course, they score a lot of runs too, but you can score on them much more often this year than seasons past. Landry has been really good for them, but she’ll give up the long ball. Should be a really fun post season. Regionals and supers could be very interesting and surprising.
Looking forward to seeing how the SEC tournament shakes out and seedlings and regional pairings after.
