Erin's pitching tonight was one of the few bright spots for the Lady Vols. It had to help her confidence tremendously and I was very glad to see it. We need her to show up. Karlyn is in a rut right now, hopefully she can come out of it quickly. I also think it's time for Weekly to send Ella Dodge to the bench and put Bella Faw back at second base. Dodge's at bat in the sixth inning with runners on was atrocious. She is not getting it done. Bella can't do any worse.

Fell to 10 in the RPI for losing on the road to #18? Seems like a steep drop. Might be close hosting a Supers if we don't win the next 2.

It was a good lose tonight, we were able to get a lot of girls into the game tonight. It just felt we were trying to hard to get girls into the game. When’s the last time we pinch run for Mealer.

Our hitting this year is god awful and we lose 4 of our better hitters to graduation. This will be our best shot to win with Pickens.

We hit with no confidence, there’s to many girls wanting to get walked.

Taking too many strikes and hitting behind in the court always favors the pitcher.

This team doesn’t deserve to win close games. We don’t do nothing to manufacture runs or play smart softball.. Ole Miss executed a squeeze on us and when was the last time that we could just get a sacrifice bunt down. They aren’t learning anything from there loses.

Sometimes change is needed.

I know I'll probably get scorched for asking this, but I feel I need to ask it if for no other reason than to have some discussion about it. Is Pickens an All-American caliber pitcher? I know she throws hard and not many players can hit her. But we have 11 losses so far this season and six of them belong to her. Teams seem to realize that they don't need to do a lot of hitting against her and know they can win playing small ball. She only gave up only two hits tonight but three runs. The inning that OM scored in started off with a hit by pitch and a walk. She seemed to struggle in the getting the first pitch over the plate. And in general, she seems to struggle with control these past few games. She's also had a ton of 3-2 counts in recent outings. At least one other poster has pointed out that Pickens has faded down the stretch in the past two seasons. We need her to exhibit an All-American form if we have any hope of getting back to Okla.

Yes, she will be an AA. Teams are sitting on one pitch (typically inside corner FB) and making her beat them with the others. With that comes high stress counts of 3-2 counts but a lot of contact. Her innings are fine and she’s on par at 149 with Canady and Bahl at 144 and 145. We go as she goes but it doesn’t give the offense and defense a pass to rely on her to win it all. She’s doing her job in those losses to win majority if not all the games. Go back to Alabama supers last year, she pitches 9 innings of scoreless ball and the offense couldn’t get 1 run.

A few things missing with this team that last years team had. Can you say who the leader of this team is? Should be an easy thing to identify.

Last year you had one leader and one team vocal enforcer. It was Kiki’s team and it was G who was the vocal enforcer for accountability. Who took over those roles?

I'm kinda wishing now I had kept my big hopes to myself! Ugh. I did not get to see the game and am just now finding out about the loss. AND WITH KARLYN IN THE CIRCLE! Ugh.

I know it's not the end of the world, and that diamond sports are just like this sometimes. But dang. I was feeling super confident there after we'd gotten some momentum. Tennessee could get it back, but they are definitely on the struggle bus and it's picking up speed.

On the positive side, I see from the box that Fiedler got three hits and scored! Yes! And Saviya Morgan got a hit and scored. Pannell with the ribbi. 👍🏻 Saviya is definitely a bright spot right now.

I hate that these next two feel like must-wins, but I kinda fear they are unless there's some divine intervention dressed in orange for the three final games against A&M.

Who will Karen pitch today?
