Tennessee Softball 2024

Poor Vandy!
Hot take: if Vandy had softball they would’ve been great in the 2010s just like they were in baseball. Before NIL was legalized the “Opportunity Vanderbilt” program gave them a unique advantage over everyone else in baseball by allowing them to guarantee that all their players could attend Vandy debt free. (It didn’t help them in football or basketball because all scholarship players already get full rides in those sports). It’s not an impermissible benefit because they give it to all Vandy students.

But NIL negated this advantage by allowing everyone else to have an “Opportunity Vanderbilt” without having to give it to the whole student body. It’s not a coincidence that Vandy baseball has been in a steady decline since legal NIL became a thing.

It’s a lack of hitting and we can be the 1 seed and if we aren’t hitting HR’s we aren’t getting out of regionals, genius. Fingers are crossed we can get 4 singles, HBP or walks in one inning so we can score. The lack of hitting extra base hits sent us home in the first round of the sec tournament. Hopefully your mom has a TV in her basement so you are able to watch the seedings tonight. And can come back on here and spew your softball genius to us.
Tennessee took 2 of 3 from LSU without hitting a home run. Took 2 of 3 from Georgia hitting a combined 2 home runs. Saying it’s home run or loss is nonsense. So is addressing everyone you disagree with as “in your mom’s basement.”

So LVs are 3 seed despite abysmal game in SECT so had they won the Tourney the committee would have made them the #1 seed it seems..
Probably would have been the 2 had they won the LSU game, but that was the ceiling. And the teams sent to Knoxville likely wouldn’t have changed, so the only difference would have been FSU in Supers and I actually think Alabama is a better matchup.

Florida could win it all the way they’re playing right now.

Yup looking way way ahead I'm glad they are on the opposite side of a potential WCWS bracket.

But in reality there are no easy rides in this tournament. For first time in a long time it feels wide open with the distance between the top teams and 14-16 being as small as its been in recent years.

I seriously doubt chalk holds to WCWS anyway. I could see LSU over Stanford, Georgia over UCLA, Arkansas over Oklahoma State. Looks like a ton of toss-uppy supers.
