Let's get real... this is trivial. You can all talk about it till the cows come home. A slap on the risk is all that's going to take place. This would hold true with any other team in the country. It's a parking ticket folks.
or three coaches who play by the rules
i'm no fan of luigi (auriemma), but i hope this doesn't come off as sour grapes on the part of pat summitt.
At the time of the visit, it was fairly common for recruits to get tours of ESPN, seeing as we don't have many "Points of Interest" here in CT.
Maybe you see it as trivial but when espn becomes a recruiting tool there is something very wrong. Have you ever thought that maybe the beef is not with UConn so much as it is with espn? Not saying that is the case but I see a major conflict of interest here.
The beef is actually in part from both sides. I think ESPN more so because (ESPN reporter) Shelley Smith wanted to do a story with Geno on Tennessee's coach Pat Summitt and his relationship with her as to why the series was canceled. Geno told the reporter to "go ask her, that he didn't cancel it". He didn't want to be involved in that story. Smith's reply was "Ok, we're going to report the violation". Geno told the report that "It's already been discussed and dealt with (last summer)". "I think ESPN wants to stir up interest before the NCAA Tournament starts and hope the two teams meet in the finals so to get ratings at the expense of Ms Moore". "All she (Ms Moore, a communications major) had to do was pick up the phone and call ESPN to ask for a tour". UCONN did in fact violate the rules by making that call but ESPN was more interested in ratings.
