Tennessee prepare for Legal Action?

You got it all wrong, a forfeit can not benefit a team in the post season, they will be handicapped for the game not being played. UT still has the edge with 2 losses, I thin we only end up with one loss...........but that is me.

Ain't it just like the gators to pull a chicken sh&@ thing like this? I'll say it again; God I hate Florida.

This game not being played could have a huge impact on who plays in Atlanta and the Playoff. Anyone has to see this as reality. Do I think it will go unplayed? NO This game will be played because there will be to much fuss over it and the SEC will have to get it right and make them play this game. They will just be slow about doing it in my opinion. If it does drag on other schools in different conferences will be putting their 2 cents in about as well.

7-1 Bama team would get in over 6-1 LSU team. It's about percentages. The game needs to be played either way, but it's more in LSU's favor to get it done. And the SEC and Sankey need to stop being a joke and be the authoritative figure here.

the game doesn't have to be played and the best percentage team wins the east. 6-1 florida would win the east over 6-2 tennessee. the vols control their own destiny.

that doesn't mean people didn't leave.

Why would anyone evacuate Gainesville? I mean for the storm. Of course, if I were there I'd leave, but just because the place sucks. :)

Hurricanes bring three major risks: destructive winds, storm surge, and heavy rainfall.

As far as a day and a half in advance, there was near-zero possibility Gainesville would get hurricane-force winds, and only a 20% chance they would see 50-knot winds. In fact, there were even odds they wouldn't even get tropical storm (39 knot) winds. So nix that concern.

Gainesville is far inland (from either coast), and never need worry about storm surge, in any way.

Finally, the predictions 36-48 hours out were that Gainesville would see 2"-4" of rain. In Florida, that's a typical summer afternoon.

Most folks evacuate in the final 24-36 hours before the storm's arrival. Very few leave earlier than that. Which means everyone in Gainesville who was worried enough to consider evacuation had all the information they needed to reassure them it wasn't necessary.

I doubt one tenth of one percent of the city and university evacuated because of Matthew.

Here is the relevant section from the SEC Constitution, Bylaws, and Regulations for the 2016 season:

Each Conference team shall play eight Conference games each year. The schedule will consist of a 6-1-1
format, whereby each institution will play all six of its division opponents, one permanent opponent and one
rotating opponent from the other division each year. The permanent non-division opponents will be as
follows:
 Alabama v. Tennessee
 Arkansas v. Missouri
 Auburn v. Georgia
 LSU v. Florida
 Ole Miss v. Vanderbilt
 Mississippi State v. Kentucky
 Texas A&M v. South Carolina
The remaining six non-divisional opponents will be played on a rotating basis. The sites, dates, and rotation
of the eight-game schedule shall be set by administrative action of the Conference. Any conflicts that result
in this schedule that cannot be resolved by the institutions involved will be submitted to the SEC Presidents
and Chancellors for final resolution.

This dictates that any decision to not make up the game must be resolved by the member SEC Presidents and Chancellors.

They can't just take it upon the AD of Florida and LSU (with buy in from only 1 President) to not play the game. If they do, they are in breach of contract.
That is not saying what you think it says.

The "conflict" that is to be resolved is with the administrative scheduling - not the 8 game schedule. And conflicts in this context refers to any contractual scheduling made by conference members.
It does not apply to games that have been scheduled and later cancelled by the Commissioner - that is accounted for in the Commissioner's Regulations.

And if there is a single stitch of karma in the fabric of SEC football the other Chief Execs should vote that LSU made more than good faith efforts to get the game in and since Florida created this crapstorm.... Should Tennessee go ahead and prepare for a law suit in the event the SEC front office fumbles this whole LSU/Florida rescheduling?

I know there is a written rule in the Bylaws. But, anything can be contested in court or clarified or made an exception to.

Sick of how this may effect the rest of the conference and not just benefiting both teams.

In theory LSU could win out and be SEC West Champs also. Not likely, but could happen. If Bama and A&M flop.

Wouldn't it really be some **** if LSU and UF play in ATL representing their respective divisions?

They will make it up. I hate to sound like the resident attention pig, but what the heck? Book it.

Jesus. You guys are like a bunch of babies crying about this game. Let it happen before crying about the SEC screwing anybody over.

then it will be too late---they need to start the legal process now!

Every fan, coach and player in the sec needs to push to have a rule added.

"Teams that do not complete conference play are deemed ineligible for divisional titles."

Problem solved.

If, and i say if, we were to wind up with 2 loses and Florida gets to go to Atlanta, we should not show up at S. E. C. Media days.i would be in favor of going to another conference also, how bout let big 12 deep into heart of SEC country.

Holy crap, you guys really have lost your minds...

If Tennessee loses enough games to make this a reality, the fault lies with Tennessee and Tennessee alone...

Foley says stadium police and medical need to be available for help elsewhere in storm-affected areas.

However,

FSU @ Miami is going on as scheduled Saturday night. Would the stadium police and medical there NOT be needed elsewhere as well?

Bottom line: UF could play the game either Sat, Sun, or Mon but they are using the storm as an excuse not to sweat a possible loss.

Also, every other game in the state of Florida, College or pro, is being played except for theirs.

This is/was one of the possible solutions I mentioned (although it probably won't fly), however you are leaving out money. LSU isn't going to pay for the South Alabama buyout, and I doubt Florida pays their buyout and loses the home money.

LSU has already said that it is highly unlikely this game will be rescheduled, based on the following I would imagine:
1. Florida doesn't want to play (zero incentive)
2. Florida acted in bad faith no reason to continue to negotiate
3. The SEC possibly acted in bad faith, and didn't mitigate the damages or the outcome
4. $$$$$$

The reason that November 19th probably won't work even in Baton Rouge:
1. LSU isn't going to eat the South Alabama buyout
2. Florida isn't going to eat their buyout
3. Florida isn't going to give up the home cupcake
4. There is no incentive for Florida, and Florida probably has the SEC by the gonads as well.

The problem isn't Florida, the problem is/was the SEC. I think its unlikely that the game is reschedule but not impossible. Either Florida or LSU could change their stance but based on this week.... I wouldn't hold my breath. This problem squarely falls on the SEC, some mistakes you never quit paying for, this might be one of them.

Don't think for a moment LSU hasn't already drafted legal notice either or is in the process of doing so. I would put the chances of this working out as not good, and the only way it works is if LSU agrees to get shafted even more. Time will tell though.

Said it before and I'll say again..

No way UF beats UGA or arkansas

Ive seen this a 100 times. So lets say they go 5-2 and split against the two.minus the LSU game.

We're thinking 6-2 for us. But what if we have a bad game aginst USCjr or Mizzou?? We're then 5-3 possibly.

With that said, I think we can win the game tomorrow!

1. Florida doesn't want to play (zero incentive)Too bad. The SEC should stand up and tell them the game must be played or both teams are ineligible for the SEC Championship
2. Florida acted in bad faith no reason to continue to negotiate . FL is doing what gives them the best chance to win the East since TENN plays the top 2 teams in the West and has already beaten FL
3. The SEC possibly acted in bad faith, and didn't mitigate the damages or the outcome . Sanky showed little to no leadership with his decision
4. $$$$$$

The reason that November 19th probably won't work even in Baton Rouge:
1. LSU isn't going to eat the South Alabama buyout. The SEC should subsidize them and this would be a moot point
2. Florida isn't going to eat their buyout. FL only owes Presbyterian $500k. They will more than cover this by having a home game vs. LSU
3. Florida isn't going to give up the home cupcake. They should be ashamed if this is true
4. There is no incentive for Florida, and Florida probably has the SEC by the gonads as well. Why would FL have the SEC by the " gonads"?
