Having watched more Bahl from OU probably takes the trophy she actually double leaps which would make Barnhill blush.
OU will still dominate probably but the days of having the most power and money in softball will be over when they come into the SEC plus the conference tournament will not be at "home" every year though it appears the WCWS will be cause they build a stadium in tornado alley, Just like women's basketball it should have grown past that at this point. TV is where the money is anyway. Don't kiss one team butt when the championship would draw anywhere and it looks real good when the stadium is all one color except one small section which they have to focus on. And yet we are told OU somehow has no money to travel away from home in preseason. They did more this year. I will get off the soapbox. Omaha has a lot of tradition in baseball but who makes plans for vacation in OKC in tornado season or any other time for that matter. It is good for them but no one else at this point.Had a college coach tell me a few weeks ago that B12 umpires won’t challenge Gasso and it won’t get called in fear of losing the money. Paid pretty well vs. say CUSA.

True but Omaha not only build the stadium but has built around it and makes it an event other than just the tournament. The community takes pride in hosting teams and providing a great experience. I don't get that vibe from the WCWS. Omaha draws even if Nebraska doesn't even make the tournament. OKC is home to USA softball but even with the stadium seat additions it still has temporary fences and looks like a rec league field. There are tons of nicer softball complexes across the country and college stadiums just without extra seating. Sure the extra seats are nice but I think women's softball deserves better. To be fair, Omaha is in tornado alley, too, albeit not the epicenter of it like OKC.

No i will admit I have never been in person. I almost went the last time we were there which has been literally almost a decade (another story for another day). I would not even think of going if UT was not there. Omaha I would consider. I am glad the teams feel welcome when there. Part of the problem is the TV coverage shows little of that other than a giant love letter to OU. I know the fences change since they have all the other events but the picture I posted is straight from the USA softball website today. I respect OU but I do not like them at all. It probably clouds my judgement and I certainly respect your opinion.Respectfully, how many times have you been to the Women’s College World Series? Because I have made four trips there, and I’m not sure a community could do more to embrace an event than Oklahoma City does. Downtown with the host hotels does an amazing job of making the teams feel like it is the most important thing the town hosts all year. Certainly, Oklahoma fans buy tickets, but if you have ever actually been to the event, you would have seen that the vast majority of fans that attend are not only not Oklahoma fans, but they come in from all over the country. Other softball complexes across the region host travel tournaments at the same time as the WCWS so travel teams can attend the event as well. The whole week is a pretty remarkable tribute to the game of softball and how much it has grown. It is certainly not a regional or Oklahoma/centered event.
The picture you have attached there does not show the main stadium in its WCWS configuration. The “temporary” fence is not as pictured for the event, a different wall is set up with 20 rows of bleacher seating behind it.
Where else are you going to play in front of sellout crowds of 13,000? Where else in the country is there even a softball stadium that can seat 13,000, not to mention the radio booths, TV booth, press box, luxury suites, etc. Everywhere else with a capacity that large you would be talking about playing in a converted baseball stadium, which is certainly not preferable to a softball facility with a movable fence.
The fence is the way it is because after the WCWS, they take down the outfield seating and play all of the USA softball national championships there, including men’s fast and slow pitch that have the larger outfield.
I will agree that Patty runs the Big 12 as it is currently constructed. She will definitely not have that level of pull in the SEC, and that may be a bit of a rude awakening if she still is the head coach in three years when they come to the conference. Pat Murphy, Karen, Rachel Lawson and Tim Walton are not going to concede anything to the newcomers.
But I would also tell you that I literally do not know of one person in college softball that believes the World Series should be anywhere other than Oklahoma City. Even Murphy admitted that the bid Birmingham made a few years ago when it was up for bid would not have been as strong as what Oklahoma City offers. I can see where you may feel that way as a fan, but there is nobody inside the game that feels that way, at least that I’ve talked to in the 10 years I have been associated directly with the sport.
Here is an example of what irks me about OU. The expanding of the WCWS to have no doubleheader is a move I approve of but read this statement:
The NCAA on Wednesday said that its hosts in Oklahoma City said they can accommodate the format change.
“We appreciate our hosts in Oklahoma City, in particular USA Softball and the University of Oklahoma, along with our broadcast partners at ESPN, for their support of this new format,” Atkins said. “Our committee believes this will be a positive development in the continued growth and enhancement of the Women’s College World Series going forward.”
So is OU an official host of the series? (Not listed anywhere as a host) Why put that in the statement other than kissing up to Gasso who ran short of pitching even though they won and complained loudly after.

Congrats on displaying both irony and idiocy in your post. If only there were a way, in this day and age of technology, to gather knowledge on a place without having to go there.A Vol fan popping off without any knowledge of what they are talking about? Nah…can’t be!
