Tennessee Lady Vol News

I think it’s time to turn the page and let the expectations speak for themselves. This is a championship contender. The early predictions align with this analysis. The recruiting rankings and the returning core from 2024-2025.
The team’s foundation heading into this 2025-2026 season was solidified following how they performed in March on the road earning a berth to the Sweet 16 by beating a ranked Ohio State team on their homecourt.
There’s not one game scheduled for next season in the non-conference or conference where Tennessee will not be capable of winning.

When are they going to update the roster on the OFFICIAL site?

Not sure how to factor impact of inexperience among players in our hectic high pace game on both ends. More? Less? Gotta believe our speed and athleticism is better and should help in transition which is key on both ends. Was amazed at how many first passes were denied off rebounds last year. We were on them quick and with purpose and second wave cutting off lanes. Led to some easy baskets off long, sometimes prayer passes, just part of the risk/reward with THE system.

Guessing it will allow more complete line changes with the more versatile pieces to construct lines on the bench.

Further guessing that 1’s and 5’s will be closer to classic views, but the rest more position-less on both ends with THIS roster.

Going to be watching with interest.

Me too. LvObsessiveCompulsiveDisorder is my screen name, and my brain is stuck on turbo-drive with this group. 😂

It’s not just the amazing new players I’m excited about and can’t wait to see in action, it’s the returners and how they come into a new season. And last but not least, I may actually be most obsessed with wondering what adjustments/improvement our bright, young, energetic coaching staff will bring in their second season after acknowledging there were some issues in the first season that will need to be addressed.

But as is always the case for every program every season, with each new team there will be games early on that they may look a little shaky, but I have a feeling this team will round out to being really competitive a lot sooner than last year’s team which was basically starting from scratch. We’ve got a good base already, so the staff will just be adding ingredients.

It’s going to be so much fun!
Screen name makes sense, awesome job.

I feel so enlightened. I have always thought your name was ivocd! So much better to be obsessed with the LVs rather than IVs (let's just not go there). I can definitely relate! It is really refreshing to have so much positive trends right now for those with LVOCD, as it is so interesting to see all that you described above. My biggest hope is that this blend of talented experienced returning players and so many talented new players that are either new to college ball and/or new to Kim ball will cohere into a team with chemistry. I too am interested to see how Kim is in her 2nd year here and without dealing with pregnancy and birth during the season. I am not generally an optimist about my sports teams, but it is hard not to be hopeful about this team.

Oh my goodness! It never even occurred to me that the LV could be seen as an iv. lol! Ha! I'm so glad now that I somehow felt the spontaneous need to spell it out. It's making me chuckle to myself to now wonder about what others thought my screen name was referring to. What a hoot!

Wanted to add that I very much appreciate the additional angle of wondering about how Kim Caldwell will be in a non-pregnant season. Almost unbelievably, I had not yet dipped into that lake of thought obsession... so... thanks for the inspiration! I'll be sure to drive myself bat-sh!t crazy over it, and I'll have you to to thank for the LVOCD assist. 😂

That big purple L is the giveaway. 😉🤙🏼

With retaining the 2024-2025 core of five players with starter experience including three of the teams top scorers from a Top 15 AP and Sweet 16 team, #1 transfer portal, and #1/#2 high school recruiting classes this Lady Vols team is a contender for both the SEC and NCAA title. With how this team played in year 1 of the Coach Caldwell era at home including a win over UCONN in front of 16000-17000 fans this has the makings of an epic SEC run for the 2025-2026 Top 10 projected LVs.
GBO solid🍊!

I took that out of play with my ALL CAPS screen name. My original name, dating back to Gridscape was AMaVOL, but during format transitions evidently 6 character names were disallowed, while living in Guntersville, SOOOOO…… ticked me off since I had a matching vanity license plate to match. Have only been me in any forum since. Read, but don’t play anywhere else for years.

Great time of the year for some much needed laughs.. in all honesty no schedule would’ve been acceptable to some on here. Yet this one certainly isn’t an insurmountable task.
Tennessee has beaten Ole Miss more times than not no matter the location of the game.
Tennessee is 51-23 all-time against LSU. LSU has the slight edge in the last 10 games 4-6 but most games home/away have been close even in recent years.
Tennessee last two matchups against Oklahoma have been split. Last season, that final second attempt for the game winner literally was the best look I’ve ever seen for a win but just didn’t fall wasn’t the LVs night I guess.
Also, Oklahoma and Ole Miss literally have some of the worst home attendance you’ll see for solid programs. Tennessee will draw a good amount of fans to Oxford.
Tennessee is also a pretty good road team when they have the elite talent like they have on this 2025-2026 roster. If the LVs can beat Ohio State on the road in March in year 1, they can survive any SEC schedule in year 2 under Coach Caldwell.

Awful schedule. Have to play all of the best teams in the conference on the road except Texas.
This season will depend on how well Kim is able to get the freshmen integrated and contributing. I do like our chances against all teams if that happens. One thing I’ll be looking at is whether we continue putting distance between our program and Alabama, Georgia, Missouri and the other teams that have given us fits over the past few years.

Vandy! We need to crush them.

Playing Miss St twice no reason to lose any of those home games. I'm thinking we should go at least 12 and 4 and even as high as 14 and 2 if the team comes together as expected.

Our SEC opponents have been announced. It looks like we play Mississippi State twice in conference play. Should be two wins. Much easier than playing LSU twice, and SC twice the year prior. We play at LSU, SC, Ole Miss and Oklahoma.

Lady Vols basketball's SEC opponents announced for 2025-26 season
I think we need to win all eight home games should be able to get that done. Road would be great if we could split that four would like to go 5 and 3 at least on the road even 4 and 4 were fine if we win at home like we should.

If I had to make a call on a great season right now, I would want to see 7-1 at home and 6-2 on the road. At 13-3 and making at least the Sweet 16, I would be very happy with that progress. Always hoping for more, but would be very happy with this.

That would be acceptable certainly looking for more. I think our roster is top five in the country and most of those others five are SEC teams. Not expecting to lose more than 7 games in the season and depending on the rest of the schedule see that is maybe even 5 or less. Of course a lot of my thinking is based on projection and the unknown of what we'll get from a few players. This roster is certainly far improved from the one we put out there last season. If Mia Pauldo brings what I think she is going to then were going to be very hard for any team to beat. I'm looking for the big jump to be defensively as replacing players like Puckett, Darby and even Spear with defensive tough defenders like Robertson, the Pauldos, Civil and Barker just makes me think were not going to give up the points we did last season.

I don't see the offense being any worse so if were ten points better on defense most of those losses we endured last season will be wins. I'm excited talent on this team is huge if they all get close to their potential.

I certainly wouldn't see S16 as a failure for the season, but I had that as my "gotta make S16 to feel really good" about the season goal last year, and so I kinda feel like I want/need to take it up to reaching the E8 this season given the entire roster seems built for playing in Kim's system. Unless there are major injury losses to the roster and team chemistry is good, I really do think E8 is highly doable this season. And no lie: with a bit of luck that it takes nearly every team to get there, the FF isn't such an outrageous idea for me right now. It was last season, but doesn't seem so anymore. I love that.
