Based on what Coach Mack stated, and with confirming reports by Austin Price, I just don't really see Beckwith being a factor in the RB rotation this season, barring some unforeseen circumstance. Mack definitively said that Small and Evans are the 1a and 1b. Then Price emphatically stated on the VQ podcast that the third guy in the room is Wright, because of his speed. Essentially, the VQ guys' takes are that Beckwith hasn't really picked up the position yet, and that he may not necessarily be the type of back that this staff is looking for. As Price stated, he is possibly too big to play RB in this offense, and not fast enough to play WR.
I don't know, but I personally didn't think that he looked very comfortable in the O&W game. I know that opinion isn't super popular. All that said, the kid is young, and he has plenty of time to mature physically (be it speed or muscle memory at hitting the hole with confidence), learn the position, and contribute. Let's hope that we find a way to maximize his skillset.
