Do I blame or give credit to the fans for most of our teams performance on the field? Of course not. Do I blame the negavol fans for creating the uncertainty in our head coaching situation which has adversely affected this coming years recruiting? Heck yes. How can you expect a coach to recruit nationally with any success if everyone is saying he is or may get fired at the end of the season? You can bet this is being used by opposing programs very very effectively. We can not afford the luxury of falling back on instate talent like a lot of other SEC schools. If we have an unstable coaching situation, percieved or real, it is devastating on our national recruiting. So yes, I do blame all of those yelling for Fulmers firing for our crappy recruiting this coming year.
I am trying to use logic in your thinking NeylandDrive. The state of the football program rests entirely on the head coach and the team performance. The program has been on the downside for several years. The fans have every right to express their displeasure with the program whether it is calling in to radio shows, television shows, not going to games, etc. I believe Vol fans have been patient over the years with the apparent downfall of the program. The fans cannot be held responsible for what I see as apathy, lack of motivation, and consistency within the program. If you want to see enthusiastic fans then improvements need to be made with the motivation, performance, and consistency of the team. Accountability resides within the coach and team, not the fans.
