Tennessee Coaches Kicked out of Pahokee High..

What does it say about how highly Nike regards the sainted Coach Thompson that he chose to lie to him?

Thank God the fine citizens of Pahokee, Florida have this high school principal to protect them from dangerous roving gangs of UT coaches. GMAFB.
Who needs a police force when you've got Principal McVicker keeping a watchful eye on things?

While Nuke was on the recruiting trip, Kiffin took Nuke's phone and texted back and forth with Coach Thompson leading him to believe that he was Nukeese. If someone did that to your father, you'd be pissed.

My point is that Kiffin needs to earn back the trust that he very carelessly toyed with. If you can't understand that, then you're not being honest. I guarantee Pahokee's doors will be opened again, but Kiffin's serving his time in the penalty box for insulting an entire town.

Or this guy could be the new principal at Pahokee...

Thompson is Nuke's father? Also, if my father was stupid enough to fall for something like that, I'd laugh my ass off at him.

The town shouldn't be insulted if he was just telling the truth, and it sure looks like Kiff was just telling the truth about the situation there.

Just goes to show that old sayin is usually correct, "the hit dog usually hollers".

The coaching staff actually thought UT was a better fit for Nukeese considering that Andre Debose had committed for the Percy position at UF. Kiffin didn't trust the coaching staff, so he told Nukeese to lie to them so he could make him a star.

18 year-olds are pretty damn impressionable. If they weren't easily impressed, why would coaches rip off shirts?

So giving a kid a full ride to a good univ is insulting a whole town? Hate to see what else Kiffin has up his sleeve then

Grow up? Gotta say that's not very mature. Kiffin's allowed to make mistakes. He should also be allowed to make up for them.

Why such visceral attacks from this board?

We could use more players from Pahokee and Belle Glade. We need doors open at those high schools, so the PR team needs to work something out.

I find your outrage at Kiffin humorous considering in response to a blog about Urban Meyer upsetting folks at the Nike Coach of the Year Clinic, when he delivered “a colorful presentation complete with lots of uses of a four-letter word that begins with an “s” and ends in a ‘t,’” you said:.

Any high school football coach who is annoyed at the use of the “s” word in a room full of coaches needs to find another profession. Worse than the “s” bomb, coaches have to be bastards from time to time, and this Tkach is no different. If he had any class, he would have talked to Meyer privately. Takes a big man to swing at somebody when they’re not looking.

Kiffin ruining a trust with a high school coach has nothing to do with using a word that's thrown around on primetime television.

My point in that article is that the coach should have been a man about the situation and talked to Urbie personally rather than saying negative things afterward. That's exactly what I'd like for CLK to do...to talk to PHS in earnest without the PR crap.

If you've ever had a coach in your face pushing you farther than you feel capable of going, you might have thought him a bastard at the time. I didn't mean that they should hit players for example.

Oh, and I'm not "outraged" at Kiffin. I was pissed when he originally made the comments, but the anger is gone. I have hope that we can get more of those players.

How did CLK "insult an entire town"? It sure seems like now he just called it like he saw it......the principal himself has removed all doubt of that. He is a UF homer, and makes it incredibly hard for any other school to recruit in there. And there is absolutely NO PROOF that CLK asked Nuke to lie about his recruitment and commitment....even if he did, it would just make him 1 of 117 head coaches who do it every year.

He insulted an entire town by saying:

According to the Palm Beach Post: “Someone at the school was going to screw it up. The fax machine wouldn’t work, or they would have changed the signatures, all the things that go on in Pahokee”. According to the Gainesville Sun: “For those of you who haven't been to Pahokee, there ain't much going on. You take that hour drive up from south Florida, there ain't a gas station that works. Nobody's got enough money to even have shoes or a shirt on.”

"Seems like now he just called it like he saw it." Really? There's no accountability? What kind of world are you living in where that's okay to speak about a town in disparaging generalities? I've heard other people speak disparagingly and use generalities about my town as it relates to race. I'm afraid that some of the responders on this board wouldn't mind one bit.

Uh, DUDE, I am telling YOU to grow up. You have NO CLUE.

Tristin, I can understand how you feel. I wouldn't like if I felt someone dissed my hometown. I agree with some of what you say. Whatever went on, evidently some of the folks in Pahokee feel slighted and there is likely to be some fallout. I thought I read a while back that Kiffin had talked to (apologized) the coach down there after all that went down. I'm not sure about that though. I think we'll be ok in the long run though. Fences will be mended and we'll get more good players from Pahokee. On the other hand, you have to admit on some level that the principal at Pahokee is going a little overboard in his actions. For what it's worth, not everyone on here gulps the 'koolaid'. Some like to take small sips..

I have been through Pahokee. This is not far from the truth at all.

It's interesting how some people keep acting like the whole town of Pahokee is still livid over Kiffin's remarks. Seems like most of the players have looked past it. Makes you wonder who's more mature when it's all said and done.

I know you're talking to me and trying to piss me off by telling me that I need to "grow up." I get it. I got it the first time.

Sorry you couldn't make that out as my words were awfully cryptic.

Much appreciated, m1al.

I will admit that there is a fine line and I can only hope that the school will ultimately do what's best for the students/players. I don't know if the principal is doing the right thing right now.

There is a struggling agricultural economy down there and sports is a way up for lots of kids. I don't say "out," because we are very proud of our roots. Anquan Boldin has brought a lot back to the community with his organization, for example.

The principle has enough to worry about, not sure it is his business anyway. Short of our coaches doing anything different ON his campus, he should worry more about his school. No different than the government trying to fix the BCS.
