Back to the thread: I never wanted to go to the Outback Bowl. Number one because it is too far for me to drive, and number two because although it is in Florida, it is not really in the recruiting hotbed of the state.
I had hoped that the Cotton Bowl was in the picture because I am so close to Dallas and it would be sweet to play in Jerry World. But, although there is a great deal of talent in Texas, it doesn't seem to be heavily targeted by the Vols for recruiting.
CLK has stated numerous times how important Georgia is for UT recruiting efforts. Atlanta is close enough that the Tennessee fans can come out in force, and it will be the only prime time game of the day so all of that lovely orange will be featured on TV. Not only that, but all of the New Year's Day bowls will be showing the Tennessee highlights from the night before.
Let the Barners buy their way into the Outback. I doubt that CLK and company care at all.
