Tennesseans jumping ship

Kids owe nothing to the state of Tennessee, they should go to whichever schools fits them best and whichever school makes them happy.. they are the ones who have to live with it.. if it is Tennessee GREAT. If not, thats the way it goes. No worries.

What r u talking about? It's not about owing anything.. He's talking about growing up with the passion for the Vols that a lot of us do.. The type that would make a kid not think twice about where they were gonna play their ball if given the chance..

I mean no disrespect but this sounds like some of our fans who get upset when a highly rated instate kids decides to play ball for an out of state school.

These boys have earned the right to choose where they want to play.

I'm not mad at the kids that leave the great state of Tennessee just wondering why there isn't a higher number of passionate UT fans that are also expectional athletes. Think about how we would play games in neyland if we had the opportunity. Do you think we would let schools come to our home turf and beat us? **** NO! I tip my cap to kids from other states whom come here and play with passion. Just wish we had more passionate hometown talent.

What happened to the passion and the thrill that one receives from watching their home state school play football and one day dreaming to be able to take those glorious childhood dreams and make them come true? There is an unbelievable amount of talent in the state this year and all the great players look like they are jumping ship. Is there no passion throughout the state for Tennessee Football anymore? Is 75% of the great state of Tennessee fair weather UT fans and bandwagon fans for anyone whose in a title run? Where is the loyalty?

What about all the players we get NOT from the state of Tennessee? Will you argue in favor of their home states not being able to keep those players home to represent them?

Also what if these in state players go play for Vandy or Memphis, or any number of division 2 schools? Are they not still representing their home state even if they go to a different in state school?

Exactly. We demand our kids stay loyal to UT, but have no problem plucking kids out of neighboring states. Unreal.

Demand?? No.. It's just wondering how they wouldn't automatically want to be a Vol no matter what.. And it's bc of wins.. When I was young and thought like that, we were dominant.. We will see more stars staying in state once we win consistently again.. Won't be long...

I honestly don't care which state the players come from as long as they commit to us and give their all for Tennessee.

If we dont show stability this year, it will be another 3-4 years for UT to have a chance at being back on top. Another coaching change (Dooley fan or not) is just another tragic loss for the football program and then again its back to the drawing board.

This. It's not if Dooley is the guy, it's he has to be the guy at the very least to bring stability back to a turbulent program. Wasn't a huge Fulmer fan in his later years and thought it was time for a change. But I even then I was saying make sure you have a gameplan in place before pulling the trigger.

So when kids leave Ga,Fla,Ala or any other state and come to Tn,those kids must not have no passion for their state ? I dont see any posts from Tn fans asking that question when Tn gets a kid from another state.Kids are going to go to where they are happy and the school is winning. When and if Tn ever gets back to winning then these kids will come.

When FLA and ALA tickets are sold out at this point and not available in mini packets, than kids will start to come here. Hard to sell a program to kids when you can't even sell it to your own fanbase.

Im waiting till the next idiotic b*tch fest about Tennessee HS players not wanting to stay in-state before I really unleash my compelling arguement-which by my calculations should appear sometime before noon. Stay tuned!

They don't owe anything to the school but if your from Tennessee you should have a sense of pride and honor in your state and your school.

I have lived in Middle Tennessee for the past decade or so, and I have noticed there is a much greater mix of fans from other schools than in East Tennessee. Vol fans are probably still the majority, but there are a lot of Kentucky and Alabama fans out here. I imagine the mix is greater in West Tennessee, where Knoxville seems far away.

It doesn't seem far away. It IS far away. You can drive to Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss State, Alabama, Auburn, etc much faster.

What's funny is that now that I live in Virginia, when people find out that I grew up in Memphis then went to UT for undergrad, they always seem to think that I basically stayed at the local school. It blows their mind that in-state for me meant a 6 hour 380 mile drive.
