Tee Martin

Per Jimmy Hyams:

Tennessee WR coach Tee Martin was not promoted to acting head coach after Jeremy Pruitt was fired because UT’s internal investigation was ongoing and attorneys didn’t want 2020 staff members to be named acting head coach with probe incomplete. That’s why Kevin Steele was selected

Sounds like this was a case of being at the right place at the wrong time . I feel sorry for Tee

This sounds plausible, and even prudent. I have no ax to grind with Tee and loved him as a player, but he has no HC experience and, as best I can tell, no hordes of fellow coaches saying "this is the guy, he's ready to lead a major program, I'd follow him anywhere!" So when Price and Haynesworth start claiming racism and disrespected, it's just red flags galore, seems like opportunistic BS to me, and my reflex would be avoid, avoid, avoid. Go run a smaller program successfully and work your way up, like virtually every other coach in history has done.

No way that Tee is the right choice for our head coach at this time, interim or permanent. He simply doesn't have the qualifications or experience. Hopefully he can get the chance to build his resume at a smaller school. Wish him the best in doing so. Who knows - he might wind up back at UT in the future.

Bayvol will be along to tell you "iT wUz RaCiSM"

How many times has someone posted here?
"If you ain't trying, you ain't cheatin", just when I thought the bonfire couldn't get much hotter....what a mess
We all know that almost every team "cheats" with extra benefits in one way or another. But you have to be smart about it... Can't just have coaches handing out cash(if true)...Gray areas everywhere that aren't provable if you look hard enough.

Albert Haynesworth- there is the explanation

This was smart thing to do. If allegations of pay for play were going, you don't promote anyone on the current staff until proved innocent.

Yep. Had Tee been promoted, THEN found to be complicit, Freak would have needed tons of dry ice to cool this board down.

So how do we hire a guy like Steele and pay him $900K for nothing when he’s not retained. But Tee gets left out in the cold. Fulmer and Pruitt was allowed to hire Steele during investigation but wasn’t allowed to extend Tee. Somethings sounds fishy to me about that .
Legal counsel probably said: “you’re better off throwing $1M out the window than getting sanctions that will cost you 10x more”

Tee, Fulmer, Haynsworth, Pruitt, and others have DESTROYED this program. We are a toxic DUMP. It will take several years to get things back on track.

Again, water under the bridge. Everything is done, I wish Tee well wherever he goes. Wish some people would just let it go and not opine on whether a UT legend has tried hard enough for his school. It's over and lets wish him well wherever he goes and move on to the new coach.

Tee can go kick rocks far as I'm concerned...I mean what has he done to be so deserving of a hc position?...if he had done something of worth I feel like he would be offered by now...jmo

Uhhhh! I KNOW that Tee's kid is looking for a HS landing spot outside of Knoxville I suppose based on where his father lands.
