Tough to know how to evaluate Tee as an OC. He was obviously made a scapegoat this season. It's not like they fared better once Helton took back over playcalling duties. Their QB was a true Freshman, as well. Both their offense and defense were middle of the pack. Rather have someone with a more proven track record given that our OC will have major responsibility for the offense, but Tee is probably better than he looks at the moment.

I'd be fine with Tee, alot of people dogging him saying when Tyson left he sucked but also says Tyson sucks so it's confusing, Tee did good with darnold and was the scapegoat this year and USC was playing with a freshman QB this year. Tee is a good coach and a great recruiter.

When did I say he was? He had some good years. This year was down.

Not in my top three. Better than a ton of names being thrown around though. Great recuiter and some successful offenses in the past.

What upsets me is the glee some seem to have in trying to downplay his achievements and also in his firing. Also the notion that Tyson was somehow responsible for the success. He wasn’t that great here. Tee and the bros also confirmed he was a guy with input but no power. Tee made all the calls and did the planning. Tee got input from other coaches just like any coaching staff.

Yeah the demise wasnt the coordinator it was players on the field. Sam Darnold not on that roster this year made more of a difference than Ty Helton not and Tee NOT calling plays.

There is such an importance/urgency with this hire. I don't believe for one minute that anyone at UT thinks that Martin is the answer. I wouldn't put much energy in to worrying about it.

He could be CO-OC with friend and QB coach/RB coach (if we would rather have Weinke be QB coach) and be a great recruiter. I'm totally down for him.

I dont agree with you much but i think you are spot on here. Tyson was never the play caller at USC and it showed this season when his game plan didn’t work he had a hard time adjusting to what the defense was giving us. Tee is not in my top 3 either but to say he is a bad OC based on a season with a freshman QB just isn’t fair.

Yep, many insisted he was the best candidate for HC, not even a year ago, and now not consider him for OC position. I don't know if he's good or not, but just like Shoop, guys don't get good or bad in one year. Tee could probably be pretty good, and you know he'll fall in line under Fulmer/Pruitt, he's a high character guy, and you never know why things go south in a particular situation...know he'd recruit with a passion. He's from Bama, and if they hired him, we'd be flaming away...and probably regret it for a long time.

You might want to note that, at least according to the article, he has zero five-stars on the hook at the moment. And my dog could recruit five-stars to 'SC.

We all know Helton came here and proved he was an OC genius that was solely responsible for USC. Proven by all the record breaking we did on offense with him. Right? I mean our 121 ranking vs their 83 means Helton did a better job right?

Did he really throw out the race card? How ridiculous. Thanks for your contributions on the '98 team but your comments tell me you have become a loser. Please do not bring that guy here. It would be a total disaster.
