"But coach Bruce Pearl would have none of it - a stance the fifth-year head coach is now reconsidering."

...care to elaborate?

This is big orange country. Some things you don't mess with. School colors is one of them. Orange and white, orange and white, orange and white, etc.

It looks like the Kids liked them. Might as well accept the change. I think I read somewhere that we wore black back inthe 1920's? So, if that's true? it's not like we are doing it for the 1st time.

"The current Vols, led by captains Eric Berry and Montario Hardesty, were all about the Halloween treat."

WOO let's beat our chests and paint everything orange!

As long as Kiffin keeps winning I don't care what colors we go out in.

I'm pretty glad the black pants didn't get here in time because black pants, black jerseys and a white and orange helmet would have been rough. Change the helmet that one week and it might work

Well, I for one don't like them... only because we weren't told beforehand.

As Kiffin said many times. It was about the kids and they wanted it. Nobody cares what you or anyone else who is not on the team thinks.

I bet Failmore did not like the black jerseys either.

Former Vols' All-SEC offensive lineman Anthony Parker said he and teammates lobbied for the black uniforms during his four-year career, which ended last season along with the tenure of coach Phillip Fulmer.

"The black jerseys were something we tried to get the whole time we were there, but that never happened,'' Parker said. "It was cool to see, and I also thought when we did get to black jerseys it would be all black uniforms."

Not surprising. Fulmer didn't even like the orange pants. They only wore them 3 times in his tenure.

Black pants and jerseys would have been totally awesome! Hopefully, Lane K gets that done this season.

Please learn your history. Black jersey's were worn in 1921 before we officially adopted orange and white, and they were worn again in 1963. This is not the first time nor will it be the last. No one is petitioning the school to adopt black as an official color. Plus, it doesn't matter how much you like them or dislike them, they're the player's jerseys and they're the ones who should decide. Player's and recruits loved them, and judging by the crowd's reaction I believe most the fans did as well. For a less than capacity crowd, thats one of the loudest entrances I've ever heard in Neyland.

Here's the thing, I was at the game and the crowd loved it. I understand tradition, but I was also in the bookstore and saw a lot of women's bball stuff with baby blue on it, men's bball shorts with black on them, and the team in black sweat suits, so I don't think it's that big of a deal to break out a black jersey for Halloween. Plus, the recruits seemed to like it as well.

Out of touch with youth these days? Players love blackouts. At any school of any size!!! Our players know that, students know that, recruits know that, and staff know that. Only the blue hairs don't. For a nighttime halloween home game its a great move.

Atleast we're not like oregon who has 80 different uniform combinations. Or look like ga against fla last weekend.

Don't you know that history only extends to when you started watching? Anything before that is completely unnecessary and not a true tradition.
