How can this team get better? The variable factor is coaching. Jones' 4 year pattern has to be broken. Jones has made significant changes. If they work and this staff starts to overachieve the talent rather than underachieve then they'll not only save Jones' job... they'll regain the momentum necessary to take the program to the next level.

But this is a HUGE "if".

I know it goes without saying but I think T Smith gets early action to see if he can hold his own

I like our OL this season, a lot. Trey Smith will get a look @ tackle and guard IMO. But cracking the starting lineup will not be easy as in the past 3 years. I'm expecting a lot of improvement from DR, who took his freshman lumps in 16'. The S&C plus year of experience will make him a legit SEC player out there this year.

When I first found out you were engaging in this scientific study, I must admit that I was somewhat anxious about the results due to how cold and unforgiving the tests and research methods would be because of no room for bias.

How do you know they were the source of the negative chemistry? Hurd at least seemed to be responding to Jones' failure to follow through on commitments made to him. You can argue that Hurd shouldn't expect or get commitments from the HC... but it is still Jones' responsibility to either not make them, follow through, or manage the situation. If more I formation runs weren't promised then Hurd may have walked this time last year.

The '16 roster with a very few exceptions was the same as the '15 roster. They didn't really lose leaders. Jones felt so strongly about team chemistry that he named permanent captains.

With the loss of Dobbs and many positive leaders, there is now a huge leadership void. In as much as that impacts the ultimate performance of a team... it cannot be considered a plus or minus at this point but the period during which it works itself out... is generally a "minus".

I don't "know" they were the source of the team chemistry issues...that's why I said "I think"...which means that it is my personal opinion...could be right...could be wrong. It is what it is. Just hope it's better in 2017

My intended point was that Hurd and Williams bolting, and O'Brien kicking himself off the team...I think, had negative effect on team chemistry, though it's tough to prove. For first 3 years, one thing you could say is that Butch's played hard, and had minimal penalties/turnovers compared to others...all around more disciplined, compared to 2016. So, if they get back to playing solid, mistake free football as a cohesive and focused unit, I think we'll be in good shape.

I think Jones mishandled the Hurd situation and the O'Brien situation. Both should have been taken care of behind close doors and never become the circus that followed. We could go on about Hurd for days, but if what was said was true he should have been asked to leave a lot sooner imo. His halfassed effort cost us more than a game.

As far as Williams goes i wish him the best but to me he has 5 star talent with 2 star attitude.

I expect smith to push for PT almost instantly. Maybe I am expecting to much but being #1 overall the expectations should be high. Late in the season hopefully he'll takeover a role.

Frankly don't see how this is a given considering they are filling the shoes of the all time sacks leader and one of the most productive receivers of the last 5 seasons.

We had 2 DE's playing significant time at DT... And you are confused at how having a 3rd year Mac and Tuttle and Vickers (with Phillips and Kongbo at end) is comparable?

As for WR... I am sure you were *****ing about malone last year...
