Team Thread: Oklahoma City Thunder

For one or their 85 PFs
As long as they can be turned into draft picks or retraded, it won't matter. OKC needs to take notes from Memphis on how to start a rebuild.

Still, I don't think they woukd have traded Russ to Houston if there was much of a market for him. I can't figure out why his stock isn't higher. I blame Melo. Teams see a former teammate of Anthony, with Westbrook's game, and think Allen Iverson.

OKC has about 5 thousand picks, I think they are doing ok. Lol

Contract, making 47M in 2 years at 34(?) and being a guy that his game is based on athleticism, probably scared some teams. I can see and AI/Russ comparison but Russ has changed his game every year the last 4 years, and AI never changed his game even a little bit.

The fact that 100% Russ had say in where he went probably limited options as well. They may have had better trade options but Presti let Russ have say in where he went and props to him for that. We have a bunch of picks and Russ was OKC basketball. It might sound weird but this trade was about getting Russ somewhere he could contend and be happy, anything extra was just gravy. Based off Twitter, Reddit, etc, we could have traded him for a box of rocks and as long as he was in a good spot, +85% of our fans would have been ok with it. If we would have shipped him to say NY for a bunch of picks our fans would have rioted. Lol

This .russ deserves this, probably one of the only players in nba history who asked for a trade, and won’t get even one boo when they come back to okc. It’s crazy how I’ve shifted myself, to say I wasn’t the biggest fan of his would be an understatement, but the way he handled the whole KD thing and put the team on his back earned my respect. And hell, even love. Lol build the statue, and build it now.

Who gets a statue first, DJ or Russ? Lol

Seriously though, tbf a lot of our fanbase was anti Russ for a long, I know I've been fighting you all for years. Lol I'm glad he's getting the love he deserves. He could have bounced long ago, and despite his flaws, he gave everything he had to this organization, and to the city. I loathe Houston but In a dream world he wins a title there, then comes home in a few years to retire. I'm willing to bet he gets an insanely long standing ovation his first game back, and probably gets heavily cheered for every game after.

It’s year three in his contract, him and harden request a trade to okc, Durant request a trade to okc. Everything comes full circle and we win a championship finally. Lol

I agree with Kerr on this. Nothing good comes from small market teams being unable to keep stars under contract.

While I do agree. Guarantee Kerr wouldn't be saying anything if they decided to have went to the Warriors some way. I think he's more worried he's about to have to actually coach this season.

So wouldn't the logical thing to do just sign a 1 year deal last year and see how it went? Sounds like saving face to me, especially since he didnt request a trade till KL contacted him.

Yeah he was pretty quiet about it when KD joined the Warriors. Lol
