Good assessment. I seriously doubt Jackson is on the field for the Ole Miss game though. It would make Kiffin look like a joke if he let him play at all this year, let alone Saturday.

It doesn't seem anyone outside the UT "Family" is clear on what Jackson did to receive a suspension last week.

Then why did Chris Lowe say that it was a failed drug test on his ESPN video today. There was speculation, but only Hyams had said it was this until now.

If he truly was just in the wrong place with the wrong people at the wrong time then I'm all for keeping him. And keeping a very close eye on him... As for the other two, they just need to know how long their sentences will be. If you just hang around the wrong people then that can be easily changed with proper guidance. If you ARE the wrong people, then good riddance.

I'm not into guessing games....he could have skipped the test, or he could have had an altercation....I've heard a few things.

Umm...are Edwards and Richardson not facing prison time if convicted?

It depends on their prior record. If they have no priors, they may get a plea deal which allows their sentence to be served on probation with little or no prison time.

I thought I read somewhere on here that there was a mandatory sentence of X amount of years?

Of course, this IS the internet and EVERYTHING I read must be true.

I'd be very dissappointed and embarrassed if the 2 that really perpetrated the crime got another chance.

So, Jimmy Hyams obviously was wrong for reporting that it was a fact that Jackson failed a drug test if there are conflicting stories. Mike, granted I give you some grief about your blogs, I appreciate that you're not stooping to the level of Hyams and just falsely reporting things to get your name out there.

Some kind of suspension is definitely in order... if anything, just to send a message to the team that your actions, down to the company you keep, have consequences! I'm SUPER happy JJ is most-likely going to be back on the team, but please don't pull an Urban Meyer and give him a joke of a punishment!

Don't quote me on this as I'm just a law student at the moment; but it is my understanding that the minimum that you are referring to can be served on probation not necessarily in prison.

I am just pointing out that the other two are whole heartedly claiming it was definitely a failed drug test when there is nothing other than rumors to support their claims.

Considering this is Jackson's second occurance this should be it for him for the season. The other two gotta go as long as their reported involvement holds up to be true. Perhaps give Jackson another shot (at the bottom of the depth chart) next spring.

Yeah...I don't always like what you have to say or agree with ya Griff...but I do respect your point of view and enjoy a different take on things.

Hyams is another story altogether...

Isn't it possible the guys that were in the car elect not to press charges?

While the DA could still try the case without them, it'd be pretty difficult, so he'd most likely drop it, IMO. In that case, Kiffin would be given some room as to how to suspend them (like the rest of this year and the first three games of next?)

Not saying they don't deserve ejection, but there's a chance (small) it doesn't happen...

I thing JJ goes bowling.

If he did fail a drug test. Then a few days later he would still fail the same test regardless of his seemingly late night munchie run. Just saying.

I don't know if he was or he wasn't a participant in a toke fest. It's what can be proved. There fore it's what can be put forth as fact.

But, but , but he won an award for his "journalism" and "reporting."

I'm not refuting Chris or Jimmy -- I respect both and consider them very good reporters. But their information likely came from an inside source they are comfortable with -- not the actual drug test result or the player himself. Hence, there is technically still room for speculation and a lack of complete clarity...
