Taylor the OC a no-brainer

With Trooper, you must ask yourself just one thing.

Is he the best offensive coordinator CPF could possibly hire?

If your answer is yes then, while I disagree, I respect that line of thinking. But if your answer is he's the best because(insert reason, ie.. we need his recruiting..) then this I do not respect. It is wrongheaded thinking of the highest order.

If your answer is no, then let the interview process begin, and let's go make the right hire.

This is too important an opportunity to watch be frittered away.

cough...Randy Sanders...cough

I just want an OC that will not be totally Micro Managed. I do believe that this has a little to do with Cut's Departure... I want an OC who will respectfully say No or Hell No to Fulmer... I do not know if CPF can handle that... The last OC that I want is a lacky...

I would take Tropper over Kippy. Kippy is looking for a place to land, and from what I hear, wants to retire in east TN. That's not the reason to take him. We want someone who wants to make a name and not sit on it, all due respects to Mr. Brown. Hire Trooper as OC, hire Kippy as a position coach and let him call plays. The OC is much much more than calling plays. If you recruit right, the players will make you look like a genius. Look at Al Borges...two years ago he was the hottest ticket in town!.,,now where is he?....Get me Trooper on the phone NOW!

Trooper won't be hired. Fulmer is on the hot seat. He's not an idiot. He won't be taking that big of a chance. You guys might as well forget about it right now.

So, what you're saying is we should give Trooper the title but hire someone else to actually do the job? Brilliant idea. I'm sure everyone involved will be on board with that.

I had to read it twice to make sure that's actually his idea.

Trooper is the only one that can save his seat. Name a coach that would come to TN as an OC that you could trust to bring in the best prospects in the land better than Trooper. That would be the biggest gamble! I tell you, in locker rooms across the nation, kids are watching what happens to Trooper Taylor. there will be a great sucking sound from the hole in the TN program if he leaves.

The point is, If Taylor does his job right as OC, even you could call the games and win.

Over the past years we have had and in the Future we can have TOP 5 recruiting Classes... 1) This is the opinion of whom. Rivals Scout and Lemming....So on paper we should have won at least 2 SEC Championships and 2 or 1 NC... Their opinions are like AH everybody has one... Bottom Line is that we can have the TOP 1 class but if you can not lead and coach you are going to be a 8, 9, and occasional 10 win team with no BCS and the rare SECCG appearance.... Sound Familiar...

Look, If I was Fulmer, I would steal Garner back from GA and then make a move like Tupperville and get me one of those sexy spread OCs. But since Fulmer is not going to do that and is going to continue to play TN football, He might as well at least get someone who can convince the recruits that they can at least play in the NFL if they come to TN. There is nothing Fulmer can do now to attract top recruits to TN without Taylor short of wholesale change. The closest he could come is with Kippy Brown, but Brown is gonna want to sit on the porch and rock.I doubt he will be chasing these kids all over the country.

You are not reading your own board very well....Gardner is out for obvious reasons... and Fulmer has to answer to the boosters because of survival. Too Young to Remember:banghead2:

Hasn't that always attracted top recruits...Manning didn't come to UT because of Trooper, Haynesworth probably didn't come to UT because of Trooper...every recruit that came to UT was because they wanted to play TENNESSEE FOOTBALL.

Now don't get me wrong...I will miss Troop as much as the next guy...And yes there has been an increase in recruiting since his arrival...but I still think he is an unproven commodity and would like to see him have some OC experience before he is "the man"...just my humble ramblings...

Are you crazy or just too young to remember.... Taylor is not the recruiting God of Tennessee... There is more to the program than TT... Get a life get over the Man Crush and I would like for him to Stay as the WR coach but people like you make me believe that we would be better off without him.... He chooses to go to Baylor then so be it.... To go to a program that has been so far out in outer space that it may take 15 years to turn around....if possible....There have been better coaches go there that could not turn it around....Right now Taylor knows he is not ready for the OC at UT... So he will bolt...Sometimes you need to fail before you succeed...Right now he is a buddy to the players at UT. He doesn't need to go anal but he needs to tone it down before he steps up.... Going to Baylor is the best for him right now because they can be excited but he can be more stotic.....

In short, I would hire the best recruiter and the best spread option OC available. But if I'm Fulmer, I'm not going to change, so I go with the guy that gives me the best chance to succeed at TN football. Someone that can get the players here. I will call the plays and If I'm not successful, I can blame it on Trooper, but if don't get the players here, I don't get to play TN football...for very long.

I guess every top recruit we have had is attributed to Taylor....Gault, Manning, Clausen, T Martin. Recruiting plays a big part in the process but Coaching is where it is at... We have never had the problems of route running at UT before Taylor Got there either... So it is a wash....

Add to the fact that there are things about Taylor that the fans are not privy to. It is inhouse and if he is the best for the job he will get it... but there are some war wounds that may never come to the forefront...

Again, no one has answered my question? Who could Fulmer get to humble themselves to his system that will cause the best recruits in the land to come to TN? Cutcliff was the only one out there and that was only because of the success of Peyton. Now he is gone. Now I don't have a reason for big name recruits to come to TN and play in my system, so who do i get if I am not willing to change.
