I agree. My guy knows Hart pretty well from his Alabama days. Im sure he can go straight to the source if he chooses.

No that isn't smart. A coach in waiting has recruiting restrictions. So they wouldn't do that.

If it's all legit, a 5 year deal sounds like stability to me.

It helps to solidify Dooley's status as well.

Head coach in waiting would have to be an under the table/unspoken thing. It isn't like Dooley is on the verge of retiring ala Mack Brown or Bobby Bowden.

So how much does Swain really know? I realize he is an ex player, but how can he possible know? Any other reliable sources on here saying Shannon will be hired as well?

I dont think Dooley is going anywhere, and even after Wilcox left. Hart will extend Dooley as a matter of fact. I think there is some smoke in the Shannon rumor!

When I moved to Chicago, I could get rid of my car & take the El. Now, in Pittsburgh, I gotta have a car again, & wouldn't you know it, I work 5 miles from my apt. Damnit.

Randy Shannon, who may or may not be our new defensive coordinator, may or may not have a 5-year contract, maybe. :crazy:

Quick Update - actually hearing this is close to done.

I will be shocked. Would be one of the best hires of all time for an assistant coach - there are so many positives with Shannon. And I wouldn't worry too much about any NCAA sanctions against him. UM, yes. RS, not so much.
