He played in 2 keys series last week, produced nothing either time, did not get us out of a bad run play twice, threw one time across his body to the middle of the field and lofted one up deep into double coverage. In 6 plays he messed up on 4 of them, maybe that's why he got pulled with a vote of non confidence.
For the sake of redundancy? Redshirting Maurer wasn’t a factor. He can’t! Medical or otherwise. So yo guys are saying Pruitt is lying straight to the face of media. His words were all 3 QB's are cleared to play. I just cannot see him saying that if not true. For many reasons , one would be no medical redshirt if you have your HC on tape at a press conference saying all 3 are cleared. Secondly it would be something the media would trash him and the AD over, they can lie to you but you can't lie to them.
I believe if the UAB game had been close at halftime BM would have played. I think he and Chaney wanted to hold him out unless needed.
Remember these guys get paid to make outlandish statements; that is why people tune in. People like Finebaum and Fox News have made a killing doing it.Saying this morning that there is no way that Maurer was physically cleared to play vs UAB but then didn’t play.
Says he said that to protect Maurer and confuse the competition.
Says if he was healthy he would play ahead of someone with a cast on his hand.
Also said that CJP has no faith in Shrout.
So we're winning and so far what Chaney is doing is working.
He's looked pretty consistent in our last 3 wins.Pruitt better learn to love Shrout. He put on an exhibition vs SCar. If CJP plans on starting JG, it’s inevitable we will need Shrout when drives stall and mistakes pile up. JG is just not consistent enough game in, game out. Same song, different verse.
We will finish 4-8 with JG starting the rest of the year
The team needed him. But looking back after he landed on his head he probably should have rest.I wish he had not played at all. Sure would have been nice for him to have focused on getting bigger and stronger this season and go into next season's QB competition without the concussion stigma that now hangs over him.
Or they've pretty much shut him down because of his injuries, whatever they may be. It's possible the Pruitt is actually trying to protect the kid rather than continuing to play him when he's not ready physically.-Or- the coaches felt confident we could beat UAB without Maurer and decided to give him extra rest.
I don't think the team needed him at all, I think we'd be exactly where we are. The team needed a healthy Bituli, Thompson and our 20 young guys that play to develop. Senior leadership is what this team needed and we've had that the last 4 weeks, it's why we are in position to finish strong I feel. The team needed him. But looking back after he landed on his head he probably should have rest.
But he will throw JG out there a week after surgery and 6 screws in his wrist with a big cast looking like a fake hand. He could have hurt him bad when you are injured you overcompensate with another part of your body and he could have easily hurt his throwing hand.Or they've pretty much shut him down because of his injuries, whatever they may be. It's possible the Pruitt is actually trying to protect the kid rather than continuing to play him when he's not ready physically.
