Swain is Debbie Downer re: TAMU game

Just don't see it happening based on watching the team this year and last year. They don't ever get "beat down".

Don't respond to that fool. He doesn't even know what he's watching when a football game is on. This board is his social scene.

While I refuse to listen to Swain due to how freaking annoying Seth Stokes is, I'll bet you anything Swain is hoping he can come on his show monday and eat crow.

I use to listen to Swain but Seth Stokes is nothing but a joke. He is why I refuse to listen to Swain.

He's right you know. It's okay to be honest

That's what I was thinking as I read each line... Swain is spot on. Going to take a damn near perfect game to win Saturday, the losses on D are really going to show up.

This game has me worried. I know our guys will play hard, but we have a number of guys out. Having AL next weekend could also play against us mentally. I will be there and will be yelling loudly all game, win or lose.

I see the game as a season-changing event. If we lose (and avoid any additional injuries), our guys will respond with a win against Bama. If we win, our confidence will be enormous and we may likely run the table. I am excited to have the Vols in TX and will proudly make the drive to College Station from Fort Worth with my TN flags, stickers, etc. Should be a great Saturday.

Once again, Seth posts here regularly and reads all the comments.
I know it's not my place to tell you what to say about someone.
But, could I suggest that maybe you just say that he's not good at his job or you don't like him on the radio...
Or, if you do post such a harsh comment, follow it up with a good ole Southern "bless his heart". :eek:hmy:

He's really not a bad person and he truly loves the Vols, as all of us here do.

No, they don't suck. They're both quite good and capable, but yes, there's a reason that they are #2 and #3. Neither one of them blocks like Jalen does, and that's not exactly a secret. The point of mentioning that is not to take away from them, but to point out that Butch would not roll such big dice and take such a gamble/risk on the unknown (which it is certainly unknown) to prove a point or some disciplinary measure. People with common sense should know that and dispel any bogus "benching due to attitude" rumors. It's just silly.

UT put up more points on UGA this week than anybody on their schedule except Ole Miss, and put most of those points up in the 2nd half when Hurd didn't play. We didn't see Dobbs limping off the field, or carried off on a stretcher due to Hurd's absence.

Hurd is a man among boys, and we all wish he were playing, but you really should slow your roll when it comes to his teammates.

Hurd got the mulligan two possessions later when he caught the td pass to pull us to within 3. I think a player like Jalen Hurd, who has given so much to the program for 3 years now gets the benefit of the doubt. Kid's been a trooper, a warrior for Butch. He made one mistake.....you tell him about it, you coach him up and you run him back out there if he's healthy IMO. He shouldn't have pulled him at all as long as he could go.

You see those "saunters" into the EZ all the time on Saturday. Hurd just didn't have a good awareness of where the defenders were, and UT paid with six points. It happens. The play wasn't uncommon, but the effect was. No biggie.

We won. He learned. Hope he's back ASAP while protecting his health.

Instead of him sounding like 20% of the vonation negative posters I would like to hear his game plan and thoughts of helping the team win.

I do not listen to him.

What I'm saying/writing is that Jalen took a hit in the 3rd (pulling the grass out of his facemask hit) that apparently hurt him. He didn't feel symptoms until after his TD catch and sat down for awhile. At that time, he told the trainers and he was benched for the rest of the game. Should they have taken his helmet? Maybe. Did they? No. Were they protecting Jalen? Maybe. Those are the unknowns that I can't answer. And yes, Jalen jumped in the last play of the game due to the fact 1) he still had his helmet 2) and he's hard-headed (apparently only figuratively - since his head literally hurts now).

We'll miss him tomorrow. Hope he recovers soon.

I must have missed something

The Mack Crowder story didn't help your cause.

So......because I did my job, asked a question, wrote an article at the behest of my editor and UT did what they should have done which was deny it.....I'm a joke??? That makes perfect sense....smh

Just because something bad happens to surface about the Vols program doesn't mean that the person who happens to be the first to mention it is bad at their job or has an agenda. They are simply doing their job whether you like it or not.

I bet someone down at Baylor wishes that a friendly local press core had asked some hard questions early on, before the cover ups and crimes that happened there got out of control and destroyed careers and, much more importantly, the lives of a number of young women.

What about Penn State? How many kids would have been saved from those monsters if someone in the press moved on that story earlier?

Point is, a culture of looking the other way will not inoculate a power 5 program from embarrassment. It just lets things fester until the national media finds the problems, then you are known forever for your moral depravity and inaction.

The other issue is every story gets out on social media now, and often the truth is lacking in those accounts. It is better to just shut those things down with transparency and honesty, even if it irritates coaches and fans when it seems that things are being blown up bigger than they are and sure, everyone is trying to do the right thing usually. They are going to blow up anyway, since nothing stays secret anymore.

Now you're acting like a martyr. And for the record, I'm not calling you a joke. I'm only telling you why you maybe perceived as such. Correct me if I'm wrong though, didn't it come to light that your story had some factual inaccuracies? I think the problem with your industry is that you are conditioned to be first over being accurate. And it's not just you. The media's original job was to develop trust with the public and keep them in the loop. These days you have bias, agendas, and media members sensationalizing a story to further their careers. Unfortunately, it often means doing so by hurting someone else's reputation whether something bad happened or not. What I'm getting at is your perceived a certain way if you continue the trend of a corrupt and dishonest media. If you want to be seen differently, then act differently.
