I use to listen to Swain but Seth Stokes is nothing but a joke. He is why I refuse to listen to Swain.
No, they don't suck. They're both quite good and capable, but yes, there's a reason that they are #2 and #3. Neither one of them blocks like Jalen does, and that's not exactly a secret. The point of mentioning that is not to take away from them, but to point out that Butch would not roll such big dice and take such a gamble/risk on the unknown (which it is certainly unknown) to prove a point or some disciplinary measure. People with common sense should know that and dispel any bogus "benching due to attitude" rumors. It's just silly.
Hurd got the mulligan two possessions later when he caught the td pass to pull us to within 3. I think a player like Jalen Hurd, who has given so much to the program for 3 years now gets the benefit of the doubt. Kid's been a trooper, a warrior for Butch. He made one mistake.....you tell him about it, you coach him up and you run him back out there if he's healthy IMO. He shouldn't have pulled him at all as long as he could go.
That's what I was thinking as I read each line... Swain is spot on. Going to take a damn near perfect game to win Saturday, the losses on D are really going to show up.
What I'm saying/writing is that Jalen took a hit in the 3rd (pulling the grass out of his facemask hit) that apparently hurt him. He didn't feel symptoms until after his TD catch and sat down for awhile. At that time, he told the trainers and he was benched for the rest of the game. Should they have taken his helmet? Maybe. Did they? No. Were they protecting Jalen? Maybe. Those are the unknowns that I can't answer. And yes, Jalen jumped in the last play of the game due to the fact 1) he still had his helmet 2) and he's hard-headed (apparently only figuratively - since his head literally hurts now).
UT put up more points on UGA this week than anybody on their schedule except Ole Miss, and put most of those points up in the 2nd half when Hurd didn't play. We didn't see Dobbs limping off the field, or carried off on a stretcher due to Hurd's absence.
Hurd is a man among boys, and we all wish he were playing, but you really should slow your roll when it comes to his teammates.
The Mack Crowder story didn't help your cause.
So......because I did my job, asked a question, wrote an article at the behest of my editor and UT did what they should have done which was deny it.....I'm a joke??? That makes perfect sense....smh
Just because something bad happens to surface about the Vols program doesn't mean that the person who happens to be the first to mention it is bad at their job or has an agenda. They are simply doing their job whether you like it or not.
