This administration is the kind of administration that doesn’t make big moves like the ones you see at Alabama and Florida. I have very little faith that this AD and chancellor have the ability to see the Vols as a powerhouse football school, and to be honest, the days of glory are the except not the rule now. Do I think Tennessee will open up the checkbook? No! At one time this was a football school....not anymore. Too conservative and way to focused on the attitude and doing things the “right” way (in their eyes) and less about winning on GameDay.

If Currie waits until the end of the season, this class is gonna take a huge nosedive. It’ll be worse than what we’ve been witnessing the last few weeks. Get an interim in there and pay up for a GREAT coach. Every week that goes by is making Currie look worse than Hamilton ever was and thats pathetic.

Multiple sources reporting UT/Currie have advised Butch he will not be retained at season's end. We will see how accurate this is soon. Regardless, this admin has no choice but to cut him loose soon. FLA is getting ready to jump into first place in the coaching search sweepstakes. They believe they can fire McElwain WITH cause. If so, they will try to jump on Kelly or Mullen the second McElwain is canned. Pay attention UTAD/Admin/Haslam.

I swear to God and all that is Holy that if Florida hires Chip Kelly first and I have to watch those Gay-tards put up 60 points on us every year and win SEC and National championships I will quit watching UT football for the rest of my life and officially renounce my fanhood and alumni status and never make another single dollar donation from now until the day I die.

More likely they hire Dan Mullen. Just because Mullen was there during the successful time of Meyer. Wouldn't be surprised to see him there at all.

If I was Currie I would had release papers with me to finalize contract. I would next have Butch tell media he is resigning at press conference Sunday. Then interim coach next week and hopefully go 6-6 and to a lower tier bowl. Then get Gruden next season. If not get Scott Frost or Dan Mullen or maybe throw the money to Franklin because his buyout is less than 2 million.

Makes no sense. You really think Mullen would leave his team DURING the season? If he did that, I'd not want him as my head coach. As for Kelly, if I were his agent, I advise him to sit back and wait until the season ends as there will likely be several jobs to choose from plus you can likely get a bidding war or at least get better/higher offers. This head start bit is fantasy.

Another post that makes no sense to me. How does firing the coach and staff that these players committed to somehow save the class? You think UT will be able to hire a sitting coach during the season and somehow save the class? If these recruits were so high on this new coach, why didn't they commit to him in the first place? No, this argument make no sense at all. I've seen a lot of coaching changes over 60 years, and there's no good time to do it so as to "save" a recruiting class. You fire Butch today and the class is toast. You fire Butch after the season and the class is toast. You retain Butch and the class still takes a hit because rivals will use the extreme uncertainty about Butch as a weapon on the recruiting trail. Again, forget this class. The ONLY thing that matters is getting the right head coach....and we will have plenty of company/competition for hot coaches.
