Move this to a new thread for discussion.

Limited highlights, but give me your take on what you see.
My take on what I see is I'm confused lol... it's moving too fast to really see faces and they're wearing wrong numbers haha.

Obviously...

Ament # 10
Amaree Abram is #23 in the vid but #77
DeWayne Brown is #35 but #6
Ja'Kobi Gillespie is #2 but #0
Cade #30
Troy Henderson is #25 but #24
Jaylen Carey is #33 but #23

I saw Evans and JP but didn't see a number. I don't think I saw Massamba?

I'll say that when we have another shooting guard! Genuinely think the team is F4 caliber with one more player.
I believe the pieces are there to win it all and I am usually pessimistic. However, it seems when I am the most optimistic that is when I get the big let down. I think it is called BVS. It is nice to have a team when can argue about how good they are going to be.

Very fair. And I agree on all of the pieces being there except for one more guard who can reliably shoot the ball.

Reasons to be bullish:
1. Elite point guard who can score.
2. NBA talent main scoring option.
3. Four bigs with developed/developing post presence.
4. Elite coaching staff.

Needs:
1. Starting SG who can give you buckets as the second/third option on the team.
2. Youth to step up as depth. I see bigger things for Boswell, don't have any expectations for the rest and they don't need to do anything but be there in case. Evans/Massamba look like they can play, all that really matters is that they are available. But in a nine man rotation, ideally you want Boswell as the second guard off the bench, not the 6th man. So makes an even bigger case for the number 1 need (another SG who can either be that 6th man or make Abram the 6th man).

I am hoping the Frenchman can fill the SG role. Who is in the portal that could be their SG. I know Tennessee is looking for one.

JP healthy, Felix hook, Abram and Evans nice releases, our bigs all look very big (Brown looks like a man), Ament calm. I like what I'm seeing.
Henderson with a real nice release as well. Brown can step out and knock it down. Exiting to see how our team shapes up closer to the season. It will be a dog fight for these young guys earning time. Should be hard core fun practices

What is the status on ZZ getting another year or Gainey? That would be the final piece

They are going to line Abram up at offensive tackle. He’s wearing Michael Munoz’s old number! 😉

Not sure. My opinion is they played their final seasons in cbb. And the Vols have done a great job planning accordingly.

It would be great for our team but I just see it happening. I just hope we get a 13th scholarship player out of the portal so we can have a full 13 deep roster. Last year stopping at 11 scholarships and falling to 9 players in season hurt us in my opinion

From Basilio’s blog on Brown:

“Center from Hoover High School in Alabama committed to UT as a junior and was thought to be a guy they would bring in as a project. Brown got motivated as a senior and lost 30 pounds and has flat out flashed so far this week as Tennessee is going through team practice. Brown has been pretty much able to score on everyone including Felix Okpara (who's had a really nice week himself). Tennessee coaches have been SHOCKED by how quickly Brown has acclimated to this level. I'm hearing he's gone from a guy that was expected to redshirt to one that's going in their 9-10 player range and he's gaining on a few guys in the front court.
Brown's quick development and high ceiling means the frontline (if all stay healthy) will be easily the strength of the team. I haven't heard of a player busting onto the scenes out of nowhere like Brown since ZZ arrived on campus. It should be pointed out that Brown is a top 100 player out of high school but the point I'm trying to make is that he's WAAAAY further along than UT imagined he would be. Great news for Tennessee basketball.”
