From Basilio’s blog on Brown:

“Center from Hoover High School in Alabama committed to UT as a junior and was thought to be a guy they would bring in as a project. Brown got motivated as a senior and lost 30 pounds and has flat out flashed so far this week as Tennessee is going through team practice. Brown has been pretty much able to score on everyone including Felix Okpara (who's had a really nice week himself). Tennessee coaches have been SHOCKED by how quickly Brown has acclimated to this level. I'm hearing he's gone from a guy that was expected to redshirt to one that's going in their 9-10 player range and he's gaining on a few guys in the front court.
Brown's quick development and high ceiling means the frontline (if all stay healthy) will be easily the strength of the team. I haven't heard of a player busting onto the scenes out of nowhere like Brown since ZZ arrived on campus. It should be pointed out that Brown is a top 100 player out of high school but the point I'm trying to make is that he's WAAAAY further along than UT imagined he would be. Great news for Tennessee basketball.”
He also has good things to say about Ament and Abram. Hope he's not just chatting.

Brown has a real nice shot outside of the paint as well. All year I've been seeing highlights of him comfortably knocking down threes & mid range jumpers in the flow of the game. Skilled, nice form that wont require the coaching staff to change up a ton imo. As well as the ability to use his range to take it to the defenders attacking the lane.
The 3x AL state championships shows he's a winner. Would be awesome if we could go 5 deep on any given night at the 4-5 positions. What a blessing his development has been. Vols baby, Let's go!!!

If he proves he can consistently knock down the 3 and mid range in year 1 to stretch the floor for us at the 4 position at this level (as well as being effective in the schemes of our defense) I believe he could pass up a veteran post player or 2. Won't be an easy task though. Big guys often take more time with the transition from high school to D1.

Brown is going to be a great player. Another great find by Barnes.

Can you share what he said? Def curious on Abram
Wasn't much, to be fair.

***

Ament Is What UT Expected: He's very fluid for a guy his size. He weighed in at 190. Tennessee's goal is to get him to 205-210 by the time October rolls around. They say he moves like a kid that's 6-3 instead of a guy actually 6-10 (though they list him at 6-9).

Amaree Abram Has Been OK: Don't get me wrong, Tennessee is still looking to add a 2 guard and they have $2 million to play with. Of course UT will be closely monitoring the ZZ case which is heard later this week in Knoxville with a ruling expected middle of next week. Abram has been a little better than expected.

I’m absolutely ecstatic about our front court for next season. Got experienced guys who have played in the SEC and some big time games - Okpara, Phillips, Carey. If Estrella is healthy and Dewayne Brown is further along than expected, then wow have a chance to have one of the better front courts in the nation. Now IF we could get someone similar to a Lanier or someone wired to score at the SG spot, then i am absolutely drinking the national title tea 👀

I don't think that is going to be a problem.
