Students Coming Out in Force

Or the people who donate to pay for scholarships? Or the people who donate to build the buildings they sleep in or get educated in?

Amazing. I have no problem if UT gave them more tickets but what about this weeks game? Or the Akron game? If the students really give a damn then where is the demand for those tickets? And mark my word, if we lose to UF the student section will once again not be an issue.

It's like setting a place at dinner all week for a buddy who doesn't show, then he comes in mad on Friday because you didn't set anything out for him.

But if you're having tuna helper all week, and then prime rib on Friday, you should expect it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm going to every home game this year, as I have since I was in school, but I don't fault those that don't put it as a top priority.

I do agree that the more games you attend, the higher priority the University should place on you, though.

There used to be major student demand for every home game. My issue is the attitude that students should out weight those who donate and pay for the AD and most of every other part of the school. Without donors the AD would all but dry up and go away.

Atrocious. Only 13k seats for the folks who pay tuition, room&board, "Maintenance" fees, you get it. If every damn student wants to be at that game, every damn student should have a ticket with their name on it.

Making students pay for their tickets..thats atrocious. I remember lining up to get my free tickets during the Manning days.

I feel bad for making this thread then disappearing into the night... Thrills of being a student! Ha.

All I know is that if I don't get a ticket for Florida I'm going to throw bricks through my neighbor's window. I've been to far too many TN sporting events to not have the "loyalty points" to attend Florida.

When I was in School at UT (1996-2001) students camped out at the UC to make sure we got tickets to the UF game. Tickets were gone within the first day.

Ditto, except in my day it was Bama. Camped out all night to see the Bear lose his last game in Neyland in 82. And..back then, if I recall correctly, there were no guest tickets provided. If you didn't have a student ID with your ticket, you didn't get in. There were lots of students that couldn't get tickets back then, as well.

I'll be upset if this situation isn't resolved. I've already notified my neighbors that if they don't get tickets they can have the two that I get to give away to every game.

And before anyone asks, all the others have been given away for the season. Parent's aren't going to the FL game anymore so I had those left over.

Consider the fact that this email was sent after UT won a single game against a decent yet unspectacular non-conference opponent.

If by some chance Tennessee goes into the Alabama game undefeated, there will absolutely have to be a lottery.

they werent free the price was included in your tuition..

They still are.

There's a line item in the tuition bill that's an activities fee which gets students into the T-Recs as well as tickets for ALL sports on campus.

A few years back, when they went to this "students are now paying for tickets" deal, they kept the activities fee in there, and on top of it are charging for tickets.

Students have always paid for them, now they just ask for a little bit more on top. Would've made MUCH more sense to just raise the activities fee and let people still think students were getting free tickets.

They're already paying over $4,000 a semester to go to the school. Getting tickets to a football game shouldn't be such a hassle.

Good point, the 13K parents that pay for their kids tution should get those seats.
