I’ll see your Swinney and Riley and raise you a Bob Stoops, Phil Fulmer, Kirby Smart, James Franklin, etc, etc.....

Wat? Did anyone say those guys weren't ready to be head coaches when they were promoted?

This is about people saying Tee isn't ready and the names I listed would have had the same criticisms.

After scoring an 11 on the Wonderlic, I am surprised he is allowed to call 3rd and a foot.

how do you know he even gave a rats arse about the wonderlick? i guess that makes a program like usc look real dumb at 10-2 for having him as OC too, right? good gawd some of you are freaking retards. also, what does it say about the education from the university of tennessee?

which is it, he's dumb or ut edu is straight garbage along with usc's choice for OC?

Can anyone think of any examples of a major program hiring a coordinator as a head coach and it ending badly?

Charlie Weis at Notre Dame

Ted Tollner at USC

Ron Zook at Florida

Larry Coker at Miami

Ed Orgeron at Ole Miss

Ted Roof at Duke

Ellis Johnson at Southern Miss

I didn't say that he should be hired I just said he deserves an interview Google his coaching history all you want in just saying it's disrespectful as f*** that the man hasn't even been given the opportunity to interview

When you are hiring someone... you only interview people with a resume that meets the qualifications. Tee isnt qualified for an interview.

At this point, the alternatives we have that are proven are only proven to be mediocre. Low ceilings. So at least 4 years of that before we try again.

Tee Martin, or someone else similarly unproven/inexperienced at least offers hope. Yes it's high risk but also potentially high reward. I don't want to sign on to look at bland leftovers for the next few years.

It probably depends upon his field of study, and his degree. Did he graduate? I don't know.

Dabo was OC for 1 year gefore taking over. Same as Tee. Stoops was only a main DC for 3 years. Richt was an OC for 6 years.

Huge difference, Dabo took over where he was already working. You want to bring T back into a totally new start from scratch situation. No way he is ready for this.

Disagree. I think he would struggle for awhile and then turn things around. Of course we know its not going to happen.

it's always a gamble promoting a coordinator. UT has a history of both good and bad

Tee might prove to our savior as Doug Dickey was when Woodruff plucked him from Arkansas's staff. Or he might fail miserably as Bill Battle did when he was promoted. Battle at least had Dickey's success to build off of, but Tee would inherit a complete mess. Another losing season next year, no improvement in a couple years and everyone's favorite son would become public enemy #1 and run out of town on a rail (just like Majors and Fulmer if you have a short memory)

So Tee is going to coach here for 16 years? If so what assistant coach is going to take over?
