and find the guy that can help us reestablish Tennessee Football! That’s what it took for AL, and it took Shula as a bridge but they were able to restore AL football during his time there. I’d like to make a case for someone in the Tennessee family tree, namely a guy who played and coached here. There aren’t many, I know. I’ll throw a name out, though: Kevin Steele.

Fire away VN. I can take it. But before you do, consider what we need to undo and what it’s gonna take. He checks a lot of culture boxes. And he’s an elite Defensive guy.

I think they have been there done that...

I guess I just missed something somewhere, why is Steele so laughable? I know he struggled in his one stint as HC, but that was an awful Baylor program. Baylor isn’t a historical powerhouse either. Dave Aranda isn’t exactly lighting it up there either and he was considered so “can’t miss” it’s almost absurd.

Unless the premise is just LOL I guess...I am really interested to know though. I was just throwing KS out there but look what it took for us to get back last time. One of our boys coming back and doing it our way. I think we have to have that again.

except the game has changed in the SEC and its more about offense now
I think there are enough weapons on offense if Pruitt's ego would allow him to get out of the way AND admit that he does not know everything. He needs to focus on the Defense. HT will be gone after next year, or if they put in a 1 time waiver, this year. There is not 1 capable LB on the team outside of HT. Banks looks better than Crouch. Crouch is very stiff at LB.

Another DC as a coach is only putting us further behind the curve of college football....OFFENSE is the key to winning these days....teams will score 30 in a blink....if you can't match that you can't win alot of games....the days of steel curtain defense are few and very far between

We need an established coach that has proven that he can win at this level and one that wants to be here.

The only name that I know that checks all of those boxes is Freeze.

I like Pruitt, I really do but he really does not appear to want to be here anymore and he is just doing time.

I understand the finances of firing him, but with both the impending assistant coaches being fired or leaving do we really want to wait another year and then have even more buyouts for the replacement assistant coaches, and then on top of that watch this years signing class dwindle and then have another dead man walking season next year?

Kevin Steele?!?!?!

The problem with a lot of the fans is that some of them actually believe we hired the hot new thing these last three tries. That's absurdly false.

Dooley wasn't even winning at Louisiana Tech. He was on absolutely no one's radar.

The trumpet blower followed Brian Kelly around riding his coattails and never improved after he took over his teams. In fact they always got worse....

What hot coach board was Pruitt on for head coach until we hired him? Maybe something like South Alabama.

The next "hot coach" we hire will be the first since Kiffin. Chadwell and Napier fit that bill. I still want Matt Campbell because he's still a hot coach people talk about but he's also proven to be a winner. Best of both worlds.

With the Kevin Steele suggestion I’m really just resigning myself to the fact that we have about a 6 year rebuild on our hands and it’s going to take getting back to the things that made us a great program year in and year out. Not hiring a guy that can out one good roster together (a la Lane Kiffin). We have a winning tradition and culture here in our history books. It can be that way again. I think Brian Kelly has absolutely put ND back on their previous footing. ND football looks like it used to. Look how long that took!

Hah! I like that graphic. I get it, not a great name. But that wasn’t the point. Someone give us some more names. Why is there no one in our coaching tree wiling to come back and get this **** fixed? We were high on Marrone a few years back. What about him?
