Stop all the arguing; just answer two questions

1. If his suspension is one year-no. If it's two years, there is no choice but to let him go.

2. No. Other than the poor choice of words during the recent interview, he has done fine I think in the boil of extreme circumstances that no one could have predicted.

the only thing in common with baseball, football, and basketball is MH the weasel he must go for my alma maters sake. He is a loser pure and simple. He and he alone has done more harm to UT athletics that any 10 people you could name. Not being there for the team today is just another stick in the eye.

NO. Let the NCAA decide the fate.

YES. Hamilton is a DUMBASS. Should have been gone a long time ago. God I have started post on the subject. FIRE HIM!! SOMEONE PLEASE LISTEN AND FIRE HIM!

1) No. Fire a coach if he loses too much, or gets himself arrested. Fire him for punching a student, or for locking him in a closet, or for throwing a chair at him. But don't fire a coach with Pearl's level of success for this silly crap. He's been punished, with more punishment to come. That punishment need not include termination. We can and should get through this and keep moving on, rather than hire whatever coach we could get and go back to square one. That solution would take longer than waiting out Pearl's suspension.

2) No.

I don't have a problem with a coach doing the later as long as he isn't doing the former.

Winning isn't everything is the losers credo.

Yes! you do realize he's on par with Jerry Green when he's not cheating right.
Yes! was never qualified in the first place. Put him in charge of the accounting dept.

I know this is not a political forum, but I want to try to put things in perspective for a second. A few years ago, an American president pointed his finger at a worldwide audience and said "Now, I have to go back to work on my State of the Union speech. And I worked on it until pretty late last night. But I want to say one thing to the American people. I want you to listen to me. I'm going to say this again: I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people. Thank you." He was impeached by the House of Representatives on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice on December 19, 1998, and never lost his job.

That doesn't give a free pass to someone that tells a lie, however:

Coach Pearl admittedly made a mistake by lying, and recanted and apologized shortly after. He allegedly committing secondary violations (I say allegedly, because he hasn't had a chance to respond to the NCAA), which I think are commonplace for any coach of successful teams (except for the handful of elite coaches that don't have to resort to this to compete). I agree his timing with the bump was crappy, but ask John Pelphry how cutthroat this business is. Big money has driven college football and basketball to the brink of insanity. That coupled with fan bases that want-it-all-and-want-it-now, has created an almost impossible scenario.

1. If he's a crappy coach, fine, fire him.
2. If he's had a crappy year, don't we all.
3. If it's all the other stuff, don't let #2 cloud your judgement.

Sorry, but I just had to say that. Torch me all you want.

Oh yes, no excuse for what Hamilton did in the interview. He's outta here...

1. No
2. No

Both of these men work hard to give you guys the quality teams you desire and you scream "fire them" as soon as a little trouble comes around. If they weren't trying hard and taking a few chances I would be saying fire them!
:eek:lol:Holy cow. What do you call more than a little trouble? The Donners tried hard to get to California and you see what that got them.

No, Pearl will be out of a job because he lied about a stupid little violation then cried on tv...then knowingly committed another violation. Good grief, I cannot believe the ignorance of some people thinking that all of this is happening because Pearl grilled out for some recruits. You think Aaron Craft reported this because there was no pork at the cookout? No, it's because it wasn't legal. Also, don't forget the illegal phone contact.

OH! And then he told the recruits and parents to lie about it, also! So he f'ed up, lied, told recruits to lie, cried, then f'ed up again. He dug his own grave.

Great Avatar........Mr. Morals..........:peace2:

I don't care. If I'm a major league baseball player and 18 guys in the clubhouse are shooting steroids, I'm not gonna do it because I know there are rules against that and if I get caught there will be punishment. Same situation with Pearl.

Seriously....HAHAHAHAH.....Your Avy must be some sort of sarcasim !!!:eek:lol:

Mr. Morals? That's a joke right? You're saying anybody that doesn't agree with a blatant abuse of rules set forth is a prudish nerd? Break out the hash pipe everybody, fun times are back.

I'm a big Pearl fan, but yes he should be fired. He lied to the NCAA, which in my opinion should be a fire-able offense.

Mike Hamilton should have been gone after the Kiffin fiasco.

Not at all... just noticed your boy's avatar and all the "morality" talk didn't seem to fit together. I easily could be wrong....defend it ....if you like.:birgits_giggle:

Everyone saying Pearl should be fired needs to take a look in the mirror. Are you serious, the man told a lie and came clean. Who cares why he came clean but he did in front of the whole world. Get off your high horses and give the man a break unless you've never lied in your life.

He took a calculated risk. Accept a secondary violation and get a slap on the wrist, or lie, have your assts lie, and ask a recruit and his father to lie and hope the NCAA can't prove anything, knowing if they can, it now becomes a major violation. My math says that was bad arithmetic on CBP's part. Does someone who takes such a pointless risk deserve to keep his employment? If you believe so, then we'll just have to agree to disagree. And for the record, he only came clean when he knew he was caught. He didn't do it because it was the right thing to do. That does make a difference, whether you want it to or not. As for the everyone lies arguement, you're right. But not since childhood have I told a lie that would get others in trouble. I take responsibility for my actions and face the piper when I get caught, but I never drag others down with me. Pearl hurt the entire university with one, poorly thought out lie. If he had integrity, he would end all of this and fall on his sword by tendering his resignation. He should not take the program down with him.
