Still fuming

Every game will have a call that goes against you or for you which could change the outcome. The best thing is to win enough plays/score enough that you have insurance against such bad calls. If you live on the razors edge of victory/defeat you are going to get cut. Heupel needs to get his team to play at a higher level, minimize mistakes.

The official nearest the play, who didn't throw a flag, needs to have the stones to tell the guy who threw it even though he was across the field to pick the damn flag up.
This! It’s not controversial. And while we’re at it, maybe send a memo out to the refs that holding is still in the rule book as a foul. UT gets held more than any team in the country and the refs just watch like they bought a ticket

PI is not reviewable, true-- but it should be especially when it could be a game winning or losing TD involved. They even review the spot of the ball over a simple first down, and that's just a quick judgement call sometimes. If there's any doubt as to the possibility that the guy just fell down,it should be reviewed.

Maybe they discussed- unsure.

Idk how it works if refs are in disagreement. I’m assume the head ref makes the call?

But in this case, maybe the ref throwing the flag convinced the official near the play.

Agree - one challenge per game - similar to NBA. Coaches can challenge a foul call. That’s not the case in NCAAM but I like the NBA rule.

I think what happened to us was worse. We are just good enough to actually overcome it and win. As for Auburn's game, Oklahoma was still in FG range on 1st down in the 2nd quarter when that trick play happened. Oklahoma could have still scored or kicked a FG if they were called for a penalty. The truth is is that Jackson Arnold sucks and Auburn fans would rather blame the refs.
Did you not see the Auburn TD called back long before that? That was crap too. And those weren’t the only calls either. That game was one sided the whole way and I didn’t care who won.

What are you going to do about it to make sure it doesn’t happen again?
Until they start punishing refs for making horrible calls or let it be reviewed there is no way to stop it. If you penalize they will be afraid to make calls. I like the idea of the ref in the review box be able to overturn one or two challenges on a penalty like this.

…over that PI on Brazzell. What a joke of a call. It’s like calling over the back on a 7 footer when he rebounds one over ZZ. Don’t penalize a player for his ability and athleticism. It’s a joke! Our head coach needs to just take the fine and blast the way his teams are treated. Then our AD needs to say he will pay it!

We aren’t a ‘never was’ and are long no longer a ‘has been’. It’s time we got respect.

If this needs to be combined with another thread I apologize.
Win some, loose some. Move on. Yeah I don't agree with the call. Big physical WR. It's gonna happen!

Imagine how Auburn feels. They got hosed worse than we did at OU and it did cost them the game.
While I agree it shouldn’t have been a touchdown, it happened in the second quarter and Auburn had plenty of chances to make it a moot point. And even taking away the 7 it is still tied and they are on the road. I agree Auburn got the short end of calls overall, I just don’t like to ever say any call solely lost any game not even Tennessee. But yes it certainly did impact it, but I don’t think one can say it cost them the game. I would rather say it cost them a chance and greatly impacted the game. Just my take on it.😀GBO

Fair, they could’ve overcome it like we did and they couldn’t. It’s pretty rare a call directly decides a game but there was a game either last year or the year before where that did happen. I think they gave Miami a win over someone, maybe VA Tech, that was truly a given win. It was the last play of the game and the refs gave the game to Miami on a bad call.

The worst I've seen in a long, long time was Wake Forest in their loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday. If the refs had flagged the Yellowjacket defender that was OBVIOUSLY in the neutral zone, Wake could've gone into the victory formation as the infraction happened on 3rd & 5 and Tech was out of time outs.

You know it's got to be bad when the TV commentators comment on how bad of a call it was. There were several calls this happened with. Typically I believe the TV announcers take the side of the officials most of the time, but when it is this atrocious I guess they have no choice but to tell the truth.
