Are you kidding? Steve from Lexington should be familiar to anyone who listens to sports radio. He was a long time caller to the show Bob Bell and Bill King hosted on WLAC <and everything>. Bob would ask how the catfish were biting and they'd finally have to get him to hang up. Steve also called the coaches show, the pre game and post game shows. For like, the last 40 years. He was one of the original 'why don't we throw to the tight end' guys as I recall.

Man, this takes me back. Listening to WLAC at night seems like the start of talk radio for sports. Would listen to stations from Atlanta, Nashville, St. Louis, and New Orleans. Always enjoyed Bob Bell but could care less for Bill King. On their show people would always enjoy hearing from fans of different schools. I always admired Vandy Lance because he loved such a loser.

I guess those were much more civil times for fans. And I do appreciate Steve’s dedication to the Vols.

" Steve from Lexington " is not actually from Lexington. Not that most folks are going to know where Lexington is.. He is actually from Chesterfield. It is a wide spot in the road about 5 miles out of town on 412 going towards Darden. I personally, have really enjoyed the character that is Steve for a long time. He really loves the Vols and has forgotten more about the Vols than I will ever know.

I saw Vandy Lance nearly get his ass whooped by Vince Gill one time at a Vandy - Belmont game . He was heckling Vince about breaking up Amy Grants marriage. Vince had to be physically restrained 😂. Also was raising hell with former Vandy Ad Paul Hoolahan one
Year before a game because there were quite a few well connected UT fans at a Commodore club event and ended up getting tossed out instead of the Vol fans . Vandy Lance was definitely dedicated but also a jack wagon lol. There’s my “cool stories bro “ for the day .

Steve is from just outside of Lexington Tn which is in West Tn”He used to call 56.0 sports in Memphis every day and talk to Jeff Weinberger & Jack Eaton who was the voice of the Memphis Tigers forever...Steve was hilarious and pretty knowledgeable when it came to the Vols!!!

I live in West Tn and Lexington Steve is a fixture in the UT sports world. What's funny and I know this because I've witnessed it over many previous years...You could be in Memphis and turn your radio to say 56 WHBQ and there's Steve.....Jackson and tune it in to a local sports station and there's Steve...Nashville same....Chattanooga same....Knoxville same.....My wife who traveled with me many times over the years and when I would search for a local station wherever we were she would say.....When you hear Steve from Lexington stop your search because you've found a sports channel. LOL.

I heard Steve talk about his personal issues he had younger in his life on a local non sports talk radio program probably 6-7 years ago...It was pretty interesting and he was honest in his explanations....I saw Steve a few years back here....In some ways he was pretty much how I pictured him being...IIRC he's around 66 years old.

Back in the early 1950, I would listen to WLAC every weekday night. I enjoyed Bothe Bob and Bill. They were the heart of sport's talk shows and have very good information. I really missed them when I moved too Atlanta and could not get them on WLAC, even thou they were/are a 100,000 watt station.
