A DC will be his most important hire along with the OL coach for this team. The talent was there at several spots but LB and DL were our weakest spots. I'm not sure if that was a scheme, a talent thing or just lack of numbers but it is what it is. The OL was a total bust, we had the talent but if you watched them it often looked like a Chinese fire drill.

With the offense we will be running, the defense will be on the field more and we had better be ready for the growing pains on that side of the ball. I don't think we have the numbers or overall talent from what was seen last year in the middle to hold up for long periods and we do not have the numbers of players to plug in unless for some reason last year that talent wasn't used.

Steele is a good DC and recruiter no doubt and he would bring in some great coaches and recruiters as well but with that being said I honestly believe he would have Fulmer on speed dial and that is not what we need now.

After listening to the Presser and looking at some of the things as far as video clips posted on this site I have come to the conclusion that Heupel may not be what the masses want but he could very well be just what we need . If nothing else we need a new start with fresh ideas and these ideas do not need to be linked in anyway to what we have had over the last 15+ years.
