I probably shouldnt be posting this in the recruiting forum, but honestly the gloom and doom of the football forum doesnt sit very well with me. Its been a long time since Ive been this excited about the future of our program. Dooley and Co. are doing an unbelievable job building the program the right way
. I was very skeptical about the whole character first approach he insisted on taking when he got here because, lets face it, a lot of high profile recruits come with baggage. It just is what it is
.. Now that Ive had time to see him and his staff in action though I have to admit Im impressed. The state and future of our program is sound my friends.
I currently live in Arkansas so I get a good chance to see them in action on a regular basis. The spread offense scheme theyre running right now is similar to what Chaney is using at UT. I look at what theyre doing on offense with inferior talent and can only imagine how our offense is going to look next year when were firing on all cylinders.
There is not another team in the country that will have more talent at WR.
Bray will be healthy and have another year in the offense.
The offensive line will have another off season of conditioning under their belts, which should improve their ability to run block. Lets face it, we had one year to beef these guys up and have them ready to compete on Saturdays. Adding the necessary size in such a short period of time has a negative impact on athleticism. Theyll spend this off season getting that back, which means theyll be able to get to the next level when they are blocking. We should have 7 or 8 SEC caliber O linemen ready to roll next year .
I believe Lane and Neal will get it done at RB. The holes will be bigger Lane will be fully recovered from his knee injury. (The lingering effects have held him back quite a bit this year.) Neal has the size, speed, etc. to be an elite running back in the SEC. And lets not forget Young. When defenses have to respect our full arsenal of weapons he should be able to find quite a bit of space on the field.
Defense . Youth has shown up at some of the most inopportune times this year. We play teams close in the first half and cant hold on for the duration. DEPTH will help that next year. We will have DEPTH on both sides of the ball. I realize this is a word that is very unfamiliar at this point because we have had absolutely none for the past few years, but the talent is building. With this recruiting class were gonna be in decent shape. Well still be young and thin at a few spots but it will still be an improvement over what we have now. Im excited about the young guys who are being tried by fire this year. I like Wilcox and think he will be awesome when he gets the personnel in place to run the defense he wants too..
THE STATE OF OUR PROGRAM IS IMPROVING. WE HAVE WEATHERED THE MAJORITY OF THE STORM.
