I'm not recommending NOT stacking them, but using the analogy to counter the argument that since a guy's getting paid $$ he has to start in his fresh year. When Brandon committed August 2024, that put FOUR 4*-5* QBs on the squad. I"m a fan of that.
Of course it's $$, but you stack as deep as you can at any position you need with the $$ you've got. TN will never be the dollar leader, but we're not poor.

It's what they do in many positions.

While finances aren't unlimited for many companies of any size, Ohio State is one of the teams that's spending a lot of money and winning because of it.

It was the same with Bama pre-NIL. Stack the talent as deep as you can ...... and win.

If UT wants to compete, we'll spend a lot more money on NIL. I'm NOT saying we should but to win we'll have no choice but to spend much more.

Personally, I think we're spending about right and getting about the right results. We'll have some good years, some bad years, the occasional really bad year and that occasional sweet really good year.

NIL changed everything. That's my entire argument. What happened pre-NIL is irrelevant.

Offense alone won't cut it. We've barely got what wins we have this year. And possibly 2 more losses. Tennessee needs an overhaul on defense this year. Starting with Banks

Well..one thing we did better at last year, was posses the ball longer. Our offense was on the field longer. Which allowed our deeper defense even more time to rest

This year you have seen the trouble with not possessing the football long enough has caused.
Faizon will run for a 13 yarder when you need a 11 and everyone is covered.
He can run through a LB tackle on 3rd and 5.

I predict he keeps us on the field longer but maintains the PPG average.

Then GMAC must be an absolute beast

What can we expect out of RS freshman George McIntyre with veteran WRs, Oline, TE, and RBS?

I agree with your conclusion. I believe the traits you mentioned are more important than strength of the arm, or how good of an athlete they are.

It's going to be the most interesting spring of Heupel's tenure here.

GMac knows the system, Brandon has the talent, and throw the unknown of what might be made out of the transfer...can't wait

I think this is bad for Faizon. If Joey had returned, he’d be on an even plane competing with GMac next year. As it stands, GMac now has a year in the system now and will have a year of starting experience (likely) next year. Unless GMac gets hurt.

We need Faizon to be our Deshaun Watson. The guy who comes in and is a baller right off the bat.

I'm more excited for 2026 with him as the guy than if Joey came back. Faizon has the higher ceiling. We can win a national title if Faizon is the one. I doubt Joey could have led us to a title.

Or Brandon may take the starting job in 2027 whether Mc is injured or not. He could easily see playing time this year. He’s physically more ready now. With his arm, Mc will have to beat the dual threat capacity and be mentally better.

I like Brandon’s chances.

Maybe, but the pressure on GMac is going to be intense. If he doesn't excel, not just compete, Faizon will be the most popular QB on campus. Much like Hooker behind Milton.

In fairness Nico is extremely talented and he did lead the team to the playoffs in his first year starting. An argument can be made that had he stayed with CJH as a 3 year starter, he might be developing towards a top draft pick next year.

Why are you guys jumping over GMac when odds say a true freshman QB starting and playing lights out aren't happening.

Year 4 Ethan Davis and year 2 of the Dorsealer and Brame.

And I said he was good enough a HS junior to be the starting QB at Tennessee.

But what about defense? Some nice pieces, but they really need the portal at DT and safety IMO.

* Been watching Faizon for 2 years now. He controls the flow of the game. Yes he can pass for 350 and 4 TDs. Or he can pass for 200 1 TD and rush for 100 yards and 3 TDs on the ground while controlling the clock and the tempo of the game. He has this maturity right now.

We can go to the playoffs with him being-a true freshman as our starting QB.
