IT HAS TO STOP..PLEASE
Byrd is playing slot not DB ( I understand there was talk at the beginning of last year which side of the ball he'd play)
Jennings will never move to safety so stop.. just stop... it doesn't even make sense.. he our no.1 receiver
Todd Kelly playing LB.. stop. I understand wanting to bring him down and add Nigel in the back end but yall are going about it all wrong.. we run a 4-2 defense with a nickel.. so in order for this to work he wouldnt move to LB... he'd have to take gauldens spot at nickel and play down in the box/ off the edge more exclusively... this is how it would happen if it ever got there. ( technically the same in essence but Kelly becomes more of a Mark Barron hybrid type player) IMO it doesn't happen and honestly doesn't need to. Our defense takes great strides this offseason to dramatically improve on the field next year
Just cuz you scream "stop" doesn't make your opinion more valid than others. Byrd is not cemented at WR. If he switches, he's our best DB imo.
I was hoping to get my point across because these post are somewhat ridiculous. The second I saw the thread title I knew what was coming. Even if he does get switched (wont happen) he will not be our best DB.. Abernathy is hands down our best DB and its not even close.. how could you assume a guy that played wr exclusively last year would step in to a new position (in college) and be the best player for that respected position... that's just a slap in the face to all the DB's we have already as well as the new ones coming in this year.. BUT I cant bash you on your opinion.. its yours
Aren't you on record saying Abernathy wasn't athletic enough to play safety for us prior to last season?
I respect Abernathy but don't see this chasm of superiority...he was uneven last season. Player of the week this game , liability the next. Feeling that one of the most talented athletes in his high school season (who excelled at DB), could translate that opportunity at the next level is not said "slap in the face". Derek Barnett was the best DL on the team his true freshman season...any upperclassmen have unexplained handprints on their face? These are opinions that aren't wild reaches ( as you project) or "ridiculous". I'm prepared to be wrong but I honestly feel this switch will be made and will hugely benefit the team. :hi:
I give Abernathy so much praise because he was the shinning star in a secondary that was down right horrid last year.. he was all over the field. As to byrd I guess we really wont know until it happens(or doesn't) but the slap mark would be worn by every player in our secondary that just got beat out by a true soph who played on the other side of the ball last year.. yea major slap in the face. I think anyone who played defense in high school or college would take it as a slap in the face.. any offensive player that switches sides to take your starting spot... yea that wouldn't sit right.
Now if he does get switched would he play, yea of course, but to label him the best already.. idk man but guess we shall see..![]()
