Star Wars Battlefront 3 (PC, PS4, X1) game play trailer set to unveil on 04/17/2015

I don't understand this post. Of course the name alone sells a ton. But, isn't one of the modes 40 players shooting down a Walker on Hoth? How is that not using Star Wars for gameplay?

I agree with others...it seems fairly basic and shallow....but what did ppl expect? How robust is the Star Wars armory in the movies? What would have made this better?

Not saying anyone is wrong here...just curious what ppl expected/wanted.

I didn't expect to see RotJ Luke on Hoth. And it plays Rebel music when you're fighting and winning as the Empire, which is weird to me. They got a lot of the Star Wars stuff right though, it can feel epic at times.

I was just expecting more from Dice on the mechanics side of things. I know it is Battlefront and not Battlefield, but it feels like a big step back from the benchmarks of today.

The flying isn't even as good as Rogue Squadron or Shadows of the Empire from 15+ years ago. The whole setup of your character is generic. You pick up tokens in the field to fly X-wings or to get an RPG or to be Darth Vader. All of this seems to be 2001 era stuff. I wanted to run in the hangar and hop in my X-Wing and fly it out and dog fight Tie Fighters, not be limited to 45 seconds with awkward flying mechanics. I expected becoming Luke or Vader would require skill, like getting kills, capturing points, etc. Not a random token for any schmuck to find and waste.

Thanks EA for saving me 60 bucks.

Glad I have the last two games still sitting on my computer. There's nothing about this "beta" (aka demo) that makes me wanna replace them when I get the Star Wars killing urge, other than the graphics.

Really sucks too because it had so much potential. It just seems like they put something quick together, threw the Star Wars brand on it and called it done.

EA doesn't care about making good video games; they only care about profit and how titles they can churn out a year.

My inner Star Wars nerd pre-ordered this months ago and paid for about half of it already.

Not super impressed with the Beta. It gets old pretty fast and if you don't have your guy upgraded forget having any kind of chance.

Agreed I preordered it but i hate how many bullets it takes to kill someone and how the higher levels have a clear advantage and I hope they have more weapons then 6

I'm not surprised about this at all. DICE has barely had two years to work on this game. That's not nearly enough time to implement a lot of gameplay variety. They probably spent the entire first year of development JUST on the model captures and stuff like that. EA rushed to get this game out to coincide with the movie release.

EA rushed this just like they did BF4. Too bad DICE can't get away from EA.

Played the Beta. Not sure how I felt about it. Part of me was somewhat let down. The other part of me wonders how good this will actually be when the full game is released.

The beta, although fun in parts, did not blow me away. I ended up with the impression that that is just a cash grab from EA......which is what I was afraid of from the beginning of hearing that this was being made.

You guys enjoy playing destiny....

I think ill get my game review's elsewhere.

Out now for EA Access members. I did not play the beta, but I really like this after a few matches.

Not the biggest Star Wars fan but if you like it and multi-player shooter I would suggest picking it up.

Been watching the stream and I think it looks very nice. Didnt play the beta, but this is a definite buy for me. Knowing EA, there will be multiple DLC down the road

The X-wing dogfighting missions looks like a lot of fun. However I'm still sore about there being no single player campaign in this. I'm not buying right away. I want to see how substantial the DLC is and give DICE time to work out all the bugs first (cuz you know there will be some).

I have a ton of other games right now. I am going to wait also. It is fun but it sucks for people that there is no campaign.

Surprised this thread ain't blowin' up - I've heard this is very good... much better than beta

I wonder about the depth of the game long term. I played the early access and there aren't very many weapons (ten-ish maybe) and I felt like I played the same three maps over and over. i just can't see it being a game people play for an extended period of time. Maybe I'm wrong.

It's received decent reviews. 6-8/10 from what I've seen. They have said mostly what Freak mentioned.

It gets the Star Wars aspect perfectly, the sound and graphics are top notch, and it actually works.

But it is very shallow with only like 15 guns and very little variety in the maps, characters, load outs, etc.

I see it being like Titanfall - very fun for the first 10 or so hours, then falling into monotony with the lack of variety.

I really enjoyed it but there is no depth. And then they are already charging $50 for the season pass. It's ridiculous, unless you love Star Wars I would pass.

Titanfall was really good, I hate that the player base fell off so fast.

So the new COD > SW??

So the new COD > SW??

I'd say neither. I'd love to see more gamers wean themselves off of the first person shooter "teat" for a while and dare to diversify their gaming palette. Instead of COD, Halo, Battlefront, etc. Look at titles like Fallout 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Bloodbourne, The Uncharted Collection, The Witcher 3, Until Dawn, etc or go deeper into the console libraries and look at some older titles like Alien Isolation, Shadows Of Mordor, The Last of Us Remastered, etc.
