If you can't see what this coaching staff is doing--then you all deserve an F....

I rated their performance to this point a B for many reasons....

Idk honestly. There's so many moving parts right now, I have no idea what kind of a coach we have. But I do know one thing, For years I tried to tell people Lyle Jones was an even worse coach than he appeared, but due to a horrible SEC East a lot of his dumbassery was hidden. Pruitt ain't gonna have that luxury. Florida has their guy. Kentucky seems like they've finally decided to joint the SEC. SCAR is decent pretty regular. Pruitt may be a really decent coach, and still struggle. It's big boy football in our division again.

Exactly. I think Dobbs, Barnett, and some other skill players on both masked a lot of inadequacies of the team (especially offense). I think we were exposed to the ugly truth last year, and frankly we're probably a bit worse off this year as young as we are in the defensive backfield. There is talent, but there are so many holes it's difficult to put together a comprehensive game plan. There aren't any superstars on this team, which is ok if they had the high level depth to overcome that but they don't. I have seen a small bit of growth so far, especially on the defensive front. There's still a long way to go, but I will gauge my opinion on whether they can start playing disciplined football against quality opponents.

A "C" is average. So far, I think the coaching staff hasn't done a great job of playing to the strengths of their team or instilling technique and discipline. Therefore, the only appropriate grade is F. There's still time to improve but at the moment they're well below what I expected to see.

They have technically failed to win an SEC game, so on results alone it’s an F.

If it’s on a curve to consider competition and difficulty maybe a solid C.

D because I’m in a generous mood this morning.

Not remotely competitive in the 3 legit games they’ve played to date, lost by 26 points/4 touchdowns to all 3 of them. Way too many mistakes at every position group, including the ability to lineup on a punt, in game 5. Seeing very little, if any, improvement from anyone/any group almost halfway into the season. Very discouraging.

NFL caliber players can overcome poor coaching. See the Butch Jones Era.

D but improving this week was good. Starting slow is killing us! I blame this on Helton for not being aggressive.

Please explain what they are doing because the other teams aren’t seeing it either

I will tell you what--you go back and watch Florida's first play of the game on offense and tell me the 3 players on our Defense who made fundamental mistakes in allowing Fla's RB to gain 12+ yards and I'll answer your question. I want the player's names and the mistakes they made--just on the first play....

Team doesn't appear excited to play for him
Team doesn't appear to know assignments or can execute them
Gameplans don't look organized
Average recruiting results thus far.

Other than that, he looks like the guy we need

Beg to differ man. He’s blazing fast and throws better than Dobbs. Doesn’t have the natural shake you off, run over you that Dobbs had but he’s faster and elusive.

You may get yourself disqualified with that logic:)

Being disqualified from this band of dipsheets wouldn't be a bad thing.....

It's not really complicated...

The CBJ offense--and all like it--failed to produce OL who have the "I'm gonna line up and whoop dat .azz" mentality. CJP, Friend, and Helton are trying to take those bunch of softies and turn them into hardened azz-kickers! To be honest--Trey Smith's play so far has been ANYTHING but all-SEC caliber. Hopefully they will grow into it by the end of the year....Therefore--you all see what appears to be boring run after run after run. However--what you fail to realize is that a bunch of those running plays were just 1 block or 1 step away from becoming HUGE plays.
These coaches know that--and they keep throwing the opportunity out there to them looking for the light bulb to go on and expecting it to happen.

Most of you on here have no clue to how close we've actually been in every game from breaking these big plays on offense because all you expect is the "sexy" big plays of having the QBs throwing the ball all over the field like PM. Therefore--you assume our play calling has been terrible--like that know-nothing idiot Hyams.

Our RBs have performed very well so far--and are a truly talented bunch. When it begins to click for our OL this offense is gonna rock. I believe that it will show up in our last 4 games for sure if we stay healthy.

On defense--our DBs know how to line up, know their assignments, and with few exceptions have not blown coverages. They've been beaten because our DL cannot get pressure on the QB...and no defense can cover good receivers forever.

Our LBs are probably the WORST in the entire SEC as a group.
Tuttle and Johnson haven't played too bad on the DL...and we do have some young talent backing them up. However, the 3-4 only works well if there are 4 LBs on the field who can get it done agains the run and provide pass coverage. Ours can do neither!

I'm sure all of you brilliant football intellectuals will tear every argument of mine to shreds and tell me how truly stupid I am in response to my post. And I can live with that.

But it won't change the fact that we do actually have GREAT coaches who know all phases of the game.
Therefore--I gave them a B....because they have already established the "skeleton" for what will serve to bring us back to compete in the SEC over the next 2-3 years.
