I think many of us fans (myself incl) might be too quick to freak out ab this game. There's a lot to not be satisfied with, but today was a prime example in showing that even the top teams will occasionally struggle against a lesser opponent. And last week's close win over USCe and NT today are slightly concerning, but maybe we are being overly critical of this team. Despite the early season woes, they're winning games now, so they're doing something right. Hopefully, this makes the team realize they might not playing good enough to win out and will work that much harder.
I will say as a previous student, this is a tough time in the semester that definitely affects these 18-22 yo. Balancing being a football player at a major cfb program plus a college workload has got to be tough. I can't comment on being a cfb player in the SEC, but I would say it's as tough as working 55-60 hours a week while being a ft student...by November, it all takes a toll on you.
Winning by 24 means we got out-coached?
Well...blocking wasn't the problem today and it wasnt against Arkansas either. He is not a good throwing QB. He has other attributes, but on the whole he is the reason why the passing game isn't taken seriously by the vast majority of teams that have beaten the VOLS. It's my observation....and it could be wrong. OTOH, it is a team effort and Dobbs isn't the only reason why the team struggles at times....but it isn't 100% and only coaching as many on here profess.
We are bowl bound already with two winnable games still to be played... Can you guys be satisfied for once??

CBJ and staff were not outcoached.
If it is anything...it is one of two things. Either the scheme is too hard or Dobbs really isn't all that. I'm choosing the later. It should be evident why Worley started last year to anyone who can objectively watch a football game. While I love Dobbs as an individual and example for young athlete...he isn't a good QB, at all. 23-30% of the time he is remarkable...but it's generally when the play breaks down and he has to make something out of it. 15-20% he is extremely average and doesn't do anything to hurt the team. 50% of the time he is inaccurate or makes a boneheaded play.
He is so bad as a passer that teams can sell out to stop the run. Dormady didn't even have a chance to shine playing behind the 3rd string line and still did ok.
Time to call it what it is....it isn't conservative play calling...it's an inconsistent QB that cannot complete a vertical pass when it has to be done. Sorry...I want the kid to excel and this team to be great, but that is what I saw today against probably one of the worst teams in FBS. Nobody...even NTSU respects our ability to pass the damn ball and that my friends....proverbially...is what it is.
I have no doubt that Tennessee could have put up as many points as they wanted to. The team was uninspired and just went out flat. These games are simple. They go out and play just hard enough to win without getting hurt. What is gained by hammering a team like North Texas?

Based on the play in the past 2 games your definition of "winnable" may be a stretch. Mizzou had a big win last night, vandys defense has played great all year and their offense found a way to score 3 touchdowns yesterday.
Can Tennessee win? Yes. Will they win? I am not confident but am hopeful yesterday was a fluke.
Look who is back. Still waiting for you to prove me wrong where I said we are now bowl eligible in back to back seasons for the first time in years, without having to worry about winning out to get there....
UT needs to stop scheduling these bad teams late in the season - the team and fans show up flat
What are you talking about? I never said we weren't bowl eligible. You're just wanting to argue.
Only people who have an agenda (fire Butch and start the process again) will complain about winning a game. Sure it could've been better but we won and are now bowl eligible for back to back seasons for the first time in years and we didn't have to worry about winning out to get here. Quit your butthurt 'we didn't beat them bad enough' complaining and enjoy being better than we were last year.
There's no truth in anything he said and his claim is easily disproven. I don't want Jones fired, I want him and his staff to prove they can make adjustments and I want him to be able to motivate players, regardless of the opponent, to perform to a higher level of consistency.
