Squirrel White

No need to throw shade at Squirrel. He was recruited here as a 3 star at a time where there was alot of uncertainty surrounding the program. Considering his injuries, the fact that we don't rotate WRs much and that we recruited over him with 5 stars and transfers, he likely could tell it was time to move on. It was likely a mutual decision where the coaches told him he would have more opportunity and NIL testing the market.

Smallest catch radius of any WR we’ve ever had. Apparently that translates to punt catching also

The NIL money he was given to go to FSU for a season was good for Squirrel. He wouldn't have gotten that here and is not going to be an NFL player.
I thought it was a business decision to get what he could out of football while he could. He has a kid. Needs to maximize while he can.

5) some of those highly rated wrs do well in camps and such during one on ones, but struggle against schemes in a system when it isnt about just them

Not sure why anyone is trying to trash squirrel. By all accounts, he was a good kid & good teammate who didn’t cause any issues while here. He wasn’t going to play much this year, he was recruited over. It sucks he chose that dumpster fire of a program.

Pretty sure Squirrel was a 4 star coming in. At least from what I saw.

He made some good plays for us while he was here and as far as I know caused no issues off the field.

Why people want to crack on him, I will never understand. Sometimes things just don't work out the way we hope they will in life

The crazy thing is looking back to Week 1 is that this was the media narrative:

1. Mike Norvell had turned FSU around from their dismal 2024 campaign
2. Squirrel White was the stud WR that FSU had nabbed from UT and helped win the game vs Bama
3. Kalen DeBoer was on the hot sea and might not last through the season

Bama is 9-1 since then.
FSU is 4-6 since then (with 2 of those wins coming against East Texas A&M and Kent State).
Squirrel White has only caught 4 passes for 12 yards since then

Tough to think of any bigger aberration in Week 1 than that Bama-FSU game.

He would have played.
