Squirrel White

Muffs two punts with FSU only down 3 at NCSU. Cost the Seis the game.
Never was a big fan of Squirrel White, but he didn’t muff two punts. He muffed one (the second one). The first punt was really short, hit one of his teammates in the helmet, and ricocheted all the way backward to be recovered by the punter.

I think Cam Seldon was a RB at UT. He was going to get limited playing time and transferred to VT where they used him at both WR and RB.

I honestly felt bad for Squirrel White there. Also, Mike Norvell has to get the axe soon, right? Like Hugh Freeze, his teams melt down in these close games and make critical errors.

After last year’s dumpster fire of a season, they’ve dropped multiple games they should have won. Not sure how anyone can watch them and come away thinking they are well coached.

So, does this show that 1) all our WRs are just a product of the system and they aren't really good, or 2) that we don't develop WRs very well, so they go to other teams and they aren't really good, or 3) they just aren't really good?

If it's #1, thank you Heup for having a system that can make chicken salad out of....
If #2, maybe we need an upgrade at WR coach.
If #3, maybe we need some better recruiting analysts.
Maybe it was they weren’t as good as their competition. None of the above are better than Brazzell,Staley or Matthews. And I highly doubt they are better than Travis Smith or Dobson. Maybe there is your answer. If you’re implying every transfer was a product of not getting coached up the stats say they were incapable of being coached up! GBO

For a.guy that transfered to get more time and show his wares better, he seems to have squandered the opportunity.

One wonders if he would have been better off sticking around.
100%. Maybe he would have been in on some 4 wide plays and would have gotten the targets that our TEs have gotten.

Look, the guy knew he wasn't going pro. He has a kid. FSU, as the highest bidder, was his last chance to make serious money. It was a logical decision made to support his family - I can respect that. Now he can buy his family a house for cash and start a job in coaching, or whatever he wants to do.
Lots of haters in these threads like the man never dressed and contributed to the success of over the years.

TBF, the one I saw really wasn't his fault

Wolfpack kicker hit a VERY short punt-like 30;yards-much shorter than anyone expected anyway. Hit an FSU player literally in the head and bounced back to the original line of scrimmage.

Honestly first time I have ever seen that outside of those football follies videos lol

Really not much Squirrel could do other than yell at his guys to get out of the way-which he did.

No point in trashing Squirrel. He seemed a decent enough kid here and it was most likely made clear to him that if he stayed PT for him would have been limited this season. He has a kid. He's at least trying to do the right thing and take care of his family. His NFL dreams died a long time ago. Give the kid some grace.

I recall many on VN thought this guy was All-SEC soon and we couldn't afford to lose him. Coaching staff
received a lot of grief over losing this guy along with Squirrel, who was supposedly all-clutch.

I would say the staff did a terrible job identifying the caliber talent needed. Outside of Squirrel having one solid year none of those players are good. They weren't good here and aren't good at their new homes

Mike Norvell is so gone ….
No doubt. If I were FSU AD, I would offer Golesh an incentive-rich contract tomorrow with a small buyout, give him 24 hrs. to accept and see if he could turn it around. I would tell Sexton to pound sand--no negotiation. It the offer is rejected, I move on to choice #2.

Could be. But there are dozens of programs right now where fans want their coaches fired.
Where are these "winning" coaches who are going to be hired to fill these vacant positions and get these dozens of programs into the playoffs?

And when that's the situation...
it isn't the coaching.
