Sponsor Patches next fall

I love college football because of the difference in how the players play with heart versus the NFL is a political money grab and is not played for the sport and entertainment of the fans. This new age college ball is getting to be just like the NFL. These student athletes will eventually lose the drive to play hard and leave it all on the field so they can make it to the league I fear. DON’T RUIN THESE BEAUTIFUL UNIFORMS WITH SPONSORS LOGOS!!!!

I have an idea! Why not just get rid of the pointless little football games at Neyland and instead have executives for our large corporate sponsors come to the field to entertain us all for 4 hours every saturday! We've already taken the "college" out of college football. Why not just go ahead and take the "football" out of it as well?

Agree and if some accounts are true, there are already players playing the political money game (i.e., rumors of McCoy sitting out 'injured', players skipping playoff and bowl games, players not making a complete effort, etc.).

Wonder how much it would be, and if we could make a fan-run fundraiser to keep the damn things off the uniforms.

This is such a disaster. As much as so many love Danny White he's about nothing but the cash, so you know he's going to be all over this BS.

I understand your point and even agree in that I don't want patches on anyones uniforms at any school. This isnt NASCAR.

At the same time, Ohio State bought a national championship last year with a $30 million dollar roster and good coaches. We have a great staff. We are gonna have to get our payroll and thereby roster up to them and Oregons quality to win a Title IMO. The ~$10M in difference annually has to come from somewhere right? We have already started really closing the gap...this 2026 class with the #1QB Faizon, #1WR Keys, formerly #1 AND #2 ATHs nationally in Moa and Wyatt (they dropped a couple spots of course for absolutely no reason once committed) as well as having the best overall WR class in the nation for 26 as a whole with Keys, Moa, Bey,King (!!!) We spent a LOT of money in 26 and I understand that it has to come from somewhere. If the other top teams are adding patches then I not only expect Danny to follow suit, we as fans should demand it. Look what happened to Clemson when they decided they weren't changing along with every other program. Not just them being bad this year...look at their roster compared to UT, UGA etc. We absolutely bullied them on BOTH lines of scrimmage and did whatever we wanted to them on national TV, and that was a couple years ago with backup QB Milton. I hate the changes to the college game too...but at this point with no rules we will either change with the times or be left behind. GO VOLS

And then Ohio State will spend 34 million. And after that, Michigan will spend 37 million. And then Texas will spend 40 million. You will never catch up to the biggest schools in terms of revenue or spend, not without selling out everything on a level that far exceeds theirs. We will try, surely. Many schools will try. But the writing has been on the wall from the start of this. When you make the game solely about money, the schools with the most money are gonna be the biggest winners. Oh there'll be years they slip, sure, but they will always have the resources to recover - and right quick.

This is true...its an arms race.

Whats the alternative though? To NOT do as much as OSU and others do and just settle for NOT winning a title until the powers that be finally do their jobs and pit a hard cap in place? We can't do that. We have already worked very hard and spent a great deal to get where we are. I know that sounds like the "sunk cost fallacy" but it isnt really IMO. To stop now would be quitting half way. We have 2 classes that are legit good enough to win a Title from 2025 and 2026. As long as we can land 2 more top 10 classes we will have roughly the same talent level as the most elite programs in the country. We have been landing incrementally better classes every year since CJH got here. It has been an objectively linear progression. To spend more money to continue that same progress for 2 more years is only logical and rational IMO since the football program profits tens of millions of dollars every year even after profit share etc.

I guess this is where we are headed…

“First off, this was a big effort put forth by this Tennessee Waffle House group. Four quarters. That what you saw tonight. A team that put forth four quarters which wouldn’t have happened without the fine hydration of Liquid Death Mountain Water, because nothing says ‘recovery’ like water that looks like a beer can.

Big shout-out to the Shoneys Big Boy offensive line. They got a lot of push obviously powered by All you Can Eat Breakfast with mounds of bacon, biscuits, and pancakes

Speaking of - a big thank you tonight to Pepto-Bismol for keeping our defensive line steady after pregaming with last nights Campbells chili night.

So again just a great team effort from the Waffle House Vols. Special thanks to Flex Seal for patching up the locker room ceiling after last week’s rainstorm — that stuff really does stop leaks instantly. And I gotta thank Febreze for making sure that same locker room doesn’t smell like the Swamp down in Gainesville. Oh and would be remiss if I’d don’t give a shout out to Tums — because if you watched our secondary give up that last touchdown, you know I needed them.

Lastly, I want to address the pre-game controversy regarding our running backs. Although Astroglide Body Lube is superb body hydration substance and great for helping our players recover from nicks and dings, we are not applying this ultra lubricating gels on our jerseys and bodies to gain a competitive advantage. With that I will take questions.”
Mike Keith-
“And the Volunteer defense smothers, covers, dices and chops down the Alabama quarterback for a loss of 5!
And that Volunteer sack was brought to you by your local, neighborhood Waffle House...”

I believe you're being naive by thinking Adidas would just give that exclusively clause up.

E. University agrees that it shall not permit the trade name, trademark, logo,
or any other identification of any person, company, or business entity other than adidas, the University, or, subject to adidas' reasonable right of approval, any recognized governing athletics conference of which University is a member, bowl or other post-season patch, to appear on adidas Products worn or used by Coaches, Staff or Team members. University agrees that in no event shall the trade name, trademark, logo, or other identification of any manufacturer or seller of Products other than adidas be permitted to appear on any such adidas
Products.

Here's the link to A&M contract with Adidas, with minor exceptions our is identical.

So the question would be is there a loophole for armbands and leggings not supplied by the CO.

Not going to be a lot of space for sponsor patches when you factor in the apparel logo, the conference patch, any “captain” patch and then also conference championship/bowl/playoff game patches. WHERE could they even make the space? It’s just dumb. Keep corporate logos OFF the uniforms!
