Remember when Lyle played Hurd over Kamara.....Botch gave in to similar fanbase/QB misery and benched Worley for Peterman? How'd that turn out?
JG's no Iceman, Tee, Dobbs nor even Ainge, but he gives us our best chance to win...or he wouldn't be playing.
Y'all think he's got pix of CJP with a goat or something and that's why he starts? CJP doesn't owe JG anything - he's Botch's recruit. If the backups were sort of close, CJP would start them every game for the rest of the season to build experience for next year.
Maybe JG just needs to come off the bench...whatever, but he's the best chance we've got to win games.
Both seasons they tried to redshirt Dobbs? Somebody had to be. When they needed somebody to play QB when Worley was hurt? Peterman wasn’t the choice. Yeah he went in for Worley when he hurt his shoulder against UGA. Did so well that Worley came back in barely able to take snaps and still almost brought us back from that deeply dug hole. His last productivity for the Vols. Peterman was such a mess at the end that I got nervous with him taking snaps in the victory formation. Are you suggesting Peterman was never #2 in the depth chart behind Worley or that Peterman never replaced Worley in games?
You are correct. Peterman won #2 job behind Worley in fall camp to begin the season and almost started #1, but Worley won the job due to experience. Dobbs had severe accuracy problems all camp that year and was a distant 3rd, but won the starting job after Worley was hurt and the Peterman Florida debacle where he tried to play with a broken thumb. Are you suggesting Peterman was never #2 in the depth chart behind Worley or that Peterman never replaced Worley in games?
I am pretty sure in 2013 Peterman came in I believe it was 4-5 games before Dobbs took full control of the starting job. Both seasons they tried to redshirt Dobbs? Somebody had to be. I was talking 2014 but I’m still pretty sure you’re wrong about 2013. Peterman logged some garbage snaps against a FCS school and got hurt against Florida. Dobbs was next man up with Riley Ferguson’s leg injury. Peterman backed him up after Worley went down.I am pretty sure in 2013 Peterman came in I believe it was 4-5 games before Dobbs took full control of the starting job.
“Team high” in 2016? Maybe all purpose is different than total...my bad. But it indicates usage. Shows 2000 over his two year career. This guy didn’t sit on the bench like mythology insists. When exactly?
The last Vol to do that was Dobbs in '16. The only other Vol in the Top 25 of the SEC is Manning...
Remember when Lyle played Hurd over Kamara.....
How'd that turn out?
Stupid post. You just destroyed every single bit of defense of JG you think you had. Your boy wonder JG has exactly three games of more than 300 yards. Not exactly successful, like your assessment of Peterman. JG has also played in 2 more games than Peterman ever did, and we still have the rest of the season to go. JG has 36 TDs for his career so far. Peterman had 47 tds in his career, in far less snaps and games. Advantage Peterman. Peterman has multiple games of 3+ TDs in a single game. JG averages less than 2 per game. In fact, JG has thrown 3 TDs only once in a game, against the mighty powerhouse of Chattanooga. Advantage Peterman.
So if Peterman wasn't a successful college QB as you stated, what does that make JG?
Nicely done K-Town. That was easy
Peterman's was against a perennial National Title contender with a SEC caliber defense. He tossed 5 TDs in that one game. It would take your Boy Crush JG about 4 games to get 5 td passes.
Keep trolling.
He was just as off as you and BM will be playing FCS next year.OUCH!
How have those predictions worked out for you so far?No one is comparing JG and Peterman.
You compare Peterman to Dobbs who is and was better.
Peterman had one lucky game. Good for him. If you think one 300 yard game in five years of college football is successful do you.
He is the worst NFL qb ever. It is a fact.
So try again. Bad argument like usual.
He was just as off as you and BM will be playing FCS next year.
OUCH!
You are still trying to defend Peterman didn't come in for Worley and was the #2 QB because of 3 games instead of 4-5 which I clearly stated was a guess.Played in 3...1 2 3 games TOTAL in 2013.

Bingo!!! And comparing him now , he’s miles ahead. Not that first season. Haskins had 70 % completion percentage for 4831 yards and 50 TD’s. Fields in his first season had 67% completion percentage for 3273 yards and 41 TD’s. Burrow’s first season starting netted a 58% completion percentage for 16 TD’s. The scouts projected him for the 6th round before the legend season. Comparing 1st seasons he’s a distant third.
Well that’s said like a true vol fan, where the belief that a Fr or Soph that has had very little experience can improve from the previous year has been all but destroyed by the last 2-3 coachesI think that the answer was determined last year...both Maurer and Shroudt had opportunities, and neither did enough to take the job.
Please don’t think I’m saying that JG has been great! I’m as frustrated as the next person. I just believe that he’s the best we got right now.
I don’t see the huge divide in one off samples. Both Haskins and Fields had HUGE first years...and Burrows far from it. It’s all about KNOWING. The coaches don’t and we sure as hell don’t.Bingo!!! And comparing him now , he’s miles ahead.
So comparing last year UT QB’s where one had more games started, and has a very low ceiling that he was basically at,than the other 2 had pass attempts and stating as fact that the other 2 couldn’t have improved and maybe surpassed him without seeing them and blindly believing it has to be because the coaches keep putting him out there is fantasy.
Remember when he finally put Dobbs in.Botch gave in to similar fanbase/QB misery and benched Worley for Peterman? How'd that turn out?
