The only way to know if this team really is way more special in every way than last year’s team is to watch how they handle and adjust to any instances that might arise of the opponent getting back-to-back-to back wide open layups on them even if they all know they’ve hustled and defended to the best of their abilities but it still doesn't stop the opponent from making them look bad — or, as lots of fans last year said, like “they just don’t care.”

Hopefully this team has a level of quickness and tenacity that rivals even the greatest teams in history, ‘cause they’re going to have to have that to stop well coached teams from exploiting the fact that three men trapping one or two of their players on one end of the court usually means that the opponent has unguarded players down court.

We’ll know a lot more after we see if they get easily scored on despite having just busted their butts following the defensive plan.

The quickness and tenacity factors are impacted by when the trap decision is executed. Saw too many instances where the player waited way too long from too far away to set the trap. The positioning of the other 2 players is key as well. STOP THE BALL is pretty basic rule that was not executed. Maturity and instincts AS A TEAM are key. If the he second or third trapper is late instead of getting into the passing lanes life is not good, but does not have to be fatal.

Did not see a lot of quit in bad sequences last year but a lot of ill timed decisions. Does this squad have better FIT to schemes? TBD. Not smarter, but instinctive.

Have no idea how teams will play this year, but Ole Miss has two 6’5 players and one 6’4. They also have Cooper and Civil who might be playing with extra incentive. Not sure I would count that game as a win. 🤷‍♀️
Civil can’t shoot worth a sh**, Cooper may be sulking and quit by Jan 3. And it’s in Knoxvegas. I think we whip em.

Agree. Anything over 500 in the SEC would be an accomplishment.

Also, at the three year mark that puts the program exactly back where Kim found it. Mid Pack SEC (higher finishes under KJH but adjusted for an "easier" SEC) and possible Sweet Sixteen. No measurable progress If that's the outcome.

Given everything that's happened, maybe Getting back to square one is an accomplishment. But I think we had hoped for more by this point

II think a determining factor this season may be health. We'll need everyone to recover promptly and properly.

Also we'll need to have found the sweet spot for offseason training. The porridge can't be too hot or too cold. That's one of the peculiarities of this system.
Also no one arrested would be good.
