Source inside says CBP is gone. (rumor)

He recruited well when he was here, and left us in better shape. The world will never know how he would have done with the recruits he brought in.

But what he's ACTUALLY done is just not impressive. This year he beat UT, but otherwise is sitting at 10-8 with losses to Rider, Bradley, Texas Christian, Oregon, and Oregon St.

And probation or not, it's not like he doesn't have players. He has solid players...solid enough to win at Tennessee, nearly win at Kansas, beat Texas, and take Washington to overtime.

Kevin comes packaged with too many promises for the future and too many excuses, IMO.

and UT is sitting at 11-6 with losses to Oakland, Charlotte, USC and Charleston. Are we in that much better shape?

No, but going 3-6 after beating Pitt is the WORST stretch in Pearl's UT tenure, maybe in his whole career.

Meanwhile, 10-8 is a GOOD year for KO.

Yeah, without Pearl, there is no basketball. If he is suspended, the NCAA may just cancel next season for all teams when they realize that Pearl is college basketball. No point in playing the game if he isn't coaching.

Why would UT fire Pearl now or soon? It's clear what he did, he's already serving a (BOGUS) penalty assessed by Slime, it would be totally dumb to sack him months after the violation, even if the NCAA assessing the situation. Good grief. The whole incident has been grossly overblown. He didn't pay anybody or commit what could be considered a serious violation--having recruits to a BBQ at his house? Really? He was stupid to lie about that, but c'mon: Let's not overreact--which is what everybody had done. UT would be stupid to fire Pearl--unless they want basketball to be irrelevant again.

Agree 100%

Okay before Pearl...do you remember anything great about UT basketball? Without Pearl...no Lofton...no Elite 8. None of it. No bashing Florida, and competing with Kentucky.

well there was Lofton before Pearl

and we did compete with UF and UK back then. Heck I'm pretty sure even Wade beat UK

Do some research on who recruited Lofton.

You might want to check the all time series record against Florida. You also might want to check how UT's record against Kentucky stands up against how the rest of the league has done against them.

Right. It's not like Jerry Green ever swept Kentucky...oh wait.

Nice job picking a Buzz Peterson recruit.

EDIT:

Sorry, didn't notice this point was already brought up. I'm leaving it, for posterity.

DeVoe's first team in '79 beat Kentucky 3 times in the same season and he beat Joe Hall most of the time.

Then we are wasting a whole bunch of money on facilities.
