If I'm in town for baseball, I stay in Scottsdale. If I'm there for any other reason, I stay in downtown Phoenix. I bet the Chicago newspapers probably have a good guide to Mesa in their archives.

I don't think I would want O'Neill again. He's a good coach, but he's also got Larry Brown Syndrome, can't stay in one place for more than 2-3 years.

And, it seems as though hat has reverted back to his "Bruce Pearl is dog crap as a coach" commentary in order to win a tit for tat argument, yet I will note that Pearl has 5 times as many appearances in the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament than does O'Neill. Of course, the natural response is that O'Neill has been left utter garbage in his career, but it also illustrates a reason I would prefer Pearl. Both can revitalize a program, but only one has proven he will stick around to coach his rehabilitation project.

I get that, but can't blame the guy from leaving Marquette, then leaving NBA asst job for what he thought would eventually be Head job at Zona. Was fired In Toronto and went with Carlysle to DET, IND (if memory serves) I may be wrong but not all his movement was necc his fault or a nonsensical move. Leaving UT for NW is the big one that jumps off, and he has alluded to that being a mistake and immature move. He also was working for Dickey, so.... All this is my memory so I could be off

We all know Pearl will be gone because there will be a hard penalty from the ncaa. They must be having a private coaching search. Because if not they should have just fired Pearl and moved on. This season is a wash anyway. SO really I feel we put th program back an extra year.

Fire the whole staff!! Should have been fired a few weeks ago. This is an embarassment every game they play.

are these the same sources that guaranteed the 8000 hired coaches from last year. i won't believe anything until it's on the news. after seeing all the morons on here saying coach x and coach Y is the football coach, i'll never believe anything.

Oh yea and return to the pre Pearl days.....talk about embarassment........fans with paper bags on their heads and many,many ,many fans dressed as EMPTY SEATS.

I always liked Kevin O'Neill also. He knows how to coach basketball, no one can doubt that. I miss his call-in show. LOL, he would crack me up with some of the stuff he said.

He has yet to take the reigns of a program that wasn't gutted, on probation, or with some other major problems and he has improved all of them. I don't know how you can question that. The man is constantly handed messes.

I am convinced that 90% of the posters that say things like this are just bots that Freak set up so that the rest of us would jump on them and he could be entertained.

unless it's against UT

and I feel confident in saying he would have won at UT given time. He took over at the worst possible time and we were in better shape when he left

He recruited well when he was here, and left us in better shape. The world will never know how he would have done with the recruits he brought in.

But what he's ACTUALLY done is just not impressive. This year he beat UT, but otherwise is sitting at 10-8 with losses to Rider, Bradley, Texas Christian, Oregon, and Oregon St.

And probation or not, it's not like he doesn't have players. He has solid players...solid enough to win at Tennessee, nearly win at Kansas, beat Texas, and take Washington to overtime.

Kevin comes packaged with too many promises for the future and too many excuses, IMO.
